BANGKOK: -- Police are gathering more evidence to reapply for arrest warrants for 100 police force applicants who allegedly cheated by copying answers in the police entrance examination last month, deputy Bangkok police chief Pol Maj-General Adul Narongsak said yesterday.

Adul said he needed a week to screen for culpable applicants before a list of innocent successful candidates would be passed for criminal background checks before the test results are announced on January 30.

The bagman and cheating organiser, the Bangkok City regulation enforcer Jiraphot Plaidong, seems to have made a fundamental mistake. He was too greedy and failed to share his "hefty fees" with the big boys of the RTP.

Perhaps by fessing up and making financial reparation for his oversight only the cheaters themselves will get stitched up.

it's amusing that this is news. it's commonly known that if you want to join the RTP you pay. what strikes me is the cost, last year the brother of a friend was asked for 200,000 baht to join. clearly someone has upset someone.

Perfect moment to overhaul the policeforce.

The only perfect moment is when they abolish the hopelessly corrupt national police force and replace them with a more local police force. Sure, Pattaya and Phuket will remain corrupt, but most provinces would benefit.

And that's in which Big Man's interest?

It would not be in any "big man's interest" to limit the upward flow of money at the provincial level or lower. The big men want to keep everything centralized in Bangkok. That is one reason provincial and even district governors are appointed and not elected.

Can we scratch "local" and just change it for "less corrupt"?
