Chaichana Kaewphimpha, 42, a Laotian businessman was arrested at the departure lounge of Suvarnabhumi airport on Thursday. He had been on a holiday in Phuket after entering Thailand via the north east.

Thai authorizes compared his influence in the drug trade as on a par with the biggest drug lords in the region. They said he was responsible for importing 5 million Ya Ba amphetamine tablets into Thailand.

Now details are emerging of the Laotian's extravagant lifestyle.

Yesterday the seizure of his assets began with 74 items worth 100 million baht taken in by drugs suppression police.

These included 14 luxury cars, houses, land title deeds, motorcycles and bank books.

Meanwhile the online community in Laos praised the Thai police for arresting Chaichana. Pictures of his jet-set lifestyle and some of his fancy cars including a Lamborghini, Porsche, Aston Martin and a Bentley were posted on Facebook pages.

Sanook.com said that he was a big businessman in Laos with interests in hotels and sawmills.

Police in Thailand hope to make several more arrests of associates of Chaichana in the coming days as 36 different places are searched and catalogued.

It was earlier reported that at least 50 people had carried the suspect's drugs into Thailand and police here claim that many deaths can be attributed to the suspect.

Don't these drug king pins ever learn that the higher they are the harder

they fall? haven't they seen their counterpart ending in a ditch, or at best,

in prison for life with all their wordily possessions gone?

They have the brains to build a drug empire, but too stupid to know

that it will not last....

No. Money becomes irrelevant, and it all turns to power and greed.

Don't these drug king pins ever learn that sometimes the higher they are the harder they fall?

Haven't they seen a few of their counterpart ending in a ditch, or at best, in prison for life with all their wordily possessions gone?

They have the brains to build a drug empire, but too stupid to know that it will not last.... unless they ally themselves with strong protectors

I think the real kingins are the guys who have no porsche or ferrari parked in their garage but easily could afford all of it.

It is indeed good to see a top of the crop suspected drug dealer being arrested , one just wonders what was Chaichana thinking , it's all very well arresting , what did the RTP find, you can't tell me this top gun would be so silly to carry anything on himself,  and if this guy was so well known and trade for so long  and known to so many in Lao, how come no arrests were made by Lao police.......................................:coffee1:

There's something quite not adding up here  NCC, you'd think the lavish life style would be a give away long ago, even with one of those cars in Lao , so what's been going on?....................................................:cheesy:.

He doesnt need to be found with anything on him. It is plain to see that for a long time he was seen as the person behind so many cases - around 50 ya ba arrests in Thailand. If you follow the news you would have seen that Laos is always mentioned in connection with ya ba. The stories always mention leading to a big figure without an arrest. Now they have him. There will be tons of evidence. He will be jailed for life. This is a major success for the Thai drugs suppression police. Why no arrest? Er, do you think corruption is the sole domain of Thailand and Laos is squeaky clean.

Yeah,  I seen a  Cadillac Escalade in Vientiane , it was the US ambassadors. I also seen a Caddy EXT 4x4 in Cambodia , once again it was from the US embassy. No drug dealers Though.

Yes, lots of Lambos and Ferraris. Possibly VTNE is on a par with BKK for 20 mil + cars on show. There is now an Aston Martin dealership. Plenty of Hummers, F150 trucks...

Was in PP last year. I have never seen so many Range Rovers in one place in my life. It appeared there was one parked on every street corner. So much for pi$$ poor SE Asian countries...

Oh, and that red Bentley, i 've often seen that cruising round VTNE.

Nah, sorry, not my cup of tea taking photos of posh cars. Try and feign non interest in over the top expensive motors. And the people that own/drive  them. Motorcycles, however, are a different kettle of fish...

You can go to any high end car tuner in bangkok that specialises in Porsche, Lamborghini etc and you will find Ferraris from Burma, Vietnam, Laos that have been brought over to be modified.

New tires, exhausts, wrap and so on. The cars are almost as common there as in Bangkok now.

If you look through some of the pictures, you clearly see he isn't the only person with a luxury car. Plenty of his friends had them too.

Don't be so brainwashed (and also jealous). Most of those big money drug dealers are doing just fine (as opposed to 90% of the failing ordinary drug mules). Also, don't be so worried about this laotian guy's future. If handled properly ,he will be free soon with several Thai police officials buying themselves one more apartment ,BMW or Mercedes. If not - what was the point of arresting him? To save Thai people from Yaba? Ouh no! Don't say me you believe this BS  )))

Nice that he is gone.  There are plenty of others willing and able to step up and replace him.  Arresting him does not change the fact that there is a huge demand for illegal drugs.  Nothing changes.
