Notification of Address

Recommended Posts

Went to Immigration to do my 90 Day Report, and, as per the slip pinned in my passport, saying that I needed to supply a TM 30, notification of residence.

Was somewhat surprised to be charged 300 Baht for supplying this! No receipt issued, so is this an official charge or merely more 'tea money'?

I can't remember ever having had to make a payment on the odd occasion of providing a TM 30 in the last eleven years - but then I am an old git!

A TM28 form does not eliminate the need for a TM30 form. If it was a address change done by a TM28 a TM30 form could be asked for at the same time.

A tenant can be considered the housemaster and be required to submit the TM30.

Thank you for correction - good to know...

The collection of 300 Baht from you by the immigration official is covered by Section 148 of the Criminal Code B.E. 2499:

Quote

Section 148

Whoever, to be the official, by a wrongful exercise of one's functions, to coerce or to induce

any person to deliver or to procure the property or any other benefit for oneself or other

person, shall be imprisoned as from five years to twenty years or to life imprisonment, and

fined as from two thousand Baht to forty thousand Baht, or both.

Strange. I had no such hassle when I did a 90-day there a month ago. As best I recall I submitted a TM30 for the first and only time with my annual extension last year, and will do the same when I renew next month. I've never had any sort of TM30 "receipt" in my passport.
