Police chief and ThaiBev get seven days to explain Bt50,000 adviser payment

I note that the police investigating this have issued at statement that this payment is within the rules.

Do not expect much fuss from anyone of importance given that many of the police and army will all be on multiple similar cushy advisory posts.

I expect even members of the NACC would have advisory positions on private companies.

Yes, pretty much all the Nxxx's: NRSA, NLA, and via Corp. board seats if not in an advisory role. This is called macro-corruption, and it's so big and ingrained as to be invisible.

But god forbid someone should have a cooking show. Upstarts horning-in on "the game" must be pilloried.

How about he's got seven minutes...! Haul his ass in front of the ethics committee and tell him he has seven minutes....Oh, sorry.... No committee like that here.

They love committees here but I think this one would prove to be against their best interests.

Not surprising of course...

The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has confirmed that metropolitan police chief Sanit Mahathavorn is not violating police rules by holding an advisory role with a major alcohol conglomerate.

The Ombudsman should also ask who else is paying to receive Sanit's favor.

I am convinced that this is a paltry amount on the LONG list of benefactors. Sure it's well  into the multi millions or billions of THB. Remember this is the top "cop".

I have met one RTP general who clears $300,000 usd / mo.

Translation: Lay off he is one of ours.

He is also a member of the NLA, so he benefits from a double protection....

Perhaps add

- The dates of meetings he attended, and the agenda of these meetings?

- What comments he gave in each of these meetings?

- Did the meeting dates / times clash with his police work schedule?

He has been appointed in 2016 under the Junta's government and is also a member of the puppet NLA.

By the way, I am surprised he is only suspected of conflict of interest as police chief. Is it considered as ethical to have law makers paid by big companies. Are there other NLA members paid by the same company?

The initial report says Thai Bev is also required to give a report in 7 days.

Love to read it.
