PATTAYA: -- Police in Pattaya have interviewed the minivan driver who drove the two suspects in the murder of Tony Kenway to the resort from the Cambodian border

Lert Laimeun, 48, said the two men - Miles Dicken Turner, a Briton, and Abel Caldeira Bonito, a South African - paid him 2,500 baht a day to rent him and his van for seven days.

He took them to Pattaya on the 19th and was given a further 500 baht a day to stay in a resort in Bang Lamung. He was told to stay on standby and not to go anywhere.

The two men disappeared but kept in telephone contact every day. They told him after a few days that their business in Pattaya was not yet concluded.

They on the day of the shooting - Tuesday - he got a call from the suspects who said to take them back to Hat Lek on the border. On the way Miles shaved his beard off and asked to smoke cigarettes.

When they reached the border they gave him a 5,000 baht tip and crossed over to Cambodia.

Mr Tony Kenway was shot outside the Sanit Sports Club in Pong district on Tuesday as he sat in his red Porsche Cayenne. The suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle rented earlier and later dumped in Soi Pattaya Park.

The South African was the shooter and the Briton drove the getaway motorcycle.

Police are still working on the theory that the men had a business conflict with the victim but are tight lipped about the exact nature of this for fear of damaging the case,

They have contacted their counterparts in Cambodia in an effort to track down the suspects.

Yesterday regional top brass inspected the site of the shooting and the Porsche before going into a crisis meeting to discuss the way forward in the case.

Mr Kenway, a father of four married to a Thai woman called Somporn, lived in the Pong area in one of four properties he owned in Thailand.

He had been living in the country around seven years.

He had been arrested in 2015 and charged with illegal work and hiring illegal workers, a case that was due to have its next hearing in February.

British businessman Tony Kenway shot in Thailand ‘ran Wolf of Wall Street-style boiler room scam that tricked Brits out of millions of pounds’

a.png

A BRIT businessman executed in broad daylight in Thailand was the kingpin of a sprawling ‘Wolf of Wall Street’-style call centre scam that tricked Brits and Australians out of millions of pounds, police said.

Tony Kenway, 39, was shot through the head as he climbed inside his top-of-the range Porsche Cayenne after leaving the gym on Tuesday morning.

Investigators are probing Kenway’s vast ‘boiler room’ gang operation which they say tricked thousands of victims out of their life savings to fund his flash lifestyle in Pattaya.

Police are hunting two suspects – British born Miles Dicken Turner and South African Abel Bonito Caldeira – in connection with the gangland-style execution.

Court papers show Kenway was wanted over working illegally and Thai authorities had made attempts to deport him.

But friends paid his bail and he was due up in court again next month.

Family‚ friends of SA man linked to Thai shooting ‘shocked’

Picture: Abel Caldeira Bonito via Facebook

The stepfather of a South African man who allegedly pulled the trigger in a Thai killing has demanded Abel Bonita Caldeira call him in a curt Facebook post.

This as Calderia’s family and friends told TimesLIVE of their shock as news broke about his alleged involvement in an execution style shooting.

Caldeira has been identified as one of two suspects in the murder of Tony Kenway‚ a British businessman‚ whose gruesome murder was captured on CCTV footage in the southern Thai city of Pattaya.

Caldeira and his accomplice‚ Miles Dicken Turner‚ also from the UK‚ are suspected of shooting Kenway twice in the head on Tuesday while he sat in his Porsche.

UK newspaper The Mirror reported that Caldeira and Turner used their IDs to rent the white motorcycle captured on CCTV being ridden by the shooter and his getaway driver.

The more the story comes out on these 2 guys the more they seem to be incompetent (though dangerous incompetents). Why keep the same driver on standby, better to get a new one once in Pattaya , particularly if your main disguise change is shaving off your beard!

Anyway, hopefully they will be caught soon and become someone's bitch in a Thai prison. Not that i have any sympathy for the victim either if he has been ripping people off their life savings.

You'd have thought that, if they thought it necessary to retain the same driver for a speedy getaway, they would have silenced him with another 9mm handshake before crossing the border and saved the tip too.

Well, while police 'says' a lot during a long day, if true - like most of us suspected from the get-go as it were -  that bloke did get what he had coming anyway. Might have just been some 'assisted karma' then ...

Having been ripped off myself via a Ponzi scheme I have no sympathy for this guy. Whilst I wouldn't resort to killing someone if I ever got hold of the b@$t@rd that ripped me off I would do him some serious harm. These leeches deserve all they get.

everybody knows who the kingpins of boiler rooms are in Bangkok but despite arrests they always get released and are now the kings of the nightlife owning clubs, gogos, the majority of pubs type bars, as well as the master lease of ____ They made BILLIONS of baht. The kind of money that buys not only low level cops but buys ANYONE, and when its not here its in Manilla or Malaysia. Tony Kenway was small fry, still the police would do well to look at his facebook friends all driving brand new german imported cars and clean this up a bit.

Also-------- the shooting took place on Tuesday and the top brass inspected the site on Thursday.Obviously had more important things to do.I presume the Police had the scene all roped off for those 2 days waiting.

Top brass inspecting two days later isn't the same as forensics team investigating. Plenty of pictures of the latter working the scene in the immediate aftermath replete with blue latex gloves.

Plenty of other inane comments and suggestions about DNA, fingerprints, 'shooter didn't wear gloves' and the like as well so join the club. Meanwhile two suspects positively identified and arrest warrants issued.

Watch this space (but please read all the posts).

It's typically called a 'photo op' and is accompanied on local media by 'sound bites'. Makes it look like the 'top brass' are on the ball when it appears their subordinates already are.

You would have thought they would not have used their own ID to rent the motorbike which was used during the hit!
