lawyer....in thailand....that supposed to mean sumtin?? Maybe in norway....a thai lawyer is not far from the coconut seller....a joke! in fact probably coconut seller makes more income than a "thai lawyer"....ha...i would be embarrased to show a law degree (fake or otherwise) from thailand....a joke!

You have no idea on the subject of lawyers earnings in Thailand, none whatsoever,  and based on your post, I'm not about to try and educate you because it would be a waste of time!

The other way around.For most of the wifes or girlfriends of foreigners it is below them to work.If their current bf or man want them to get a job they just change them out.Where I live the foreigners are few but lets say its 40-50 in my area.My gf is the only one i know that makes her own money.The only thing most of the other wifes ask her about is why she bother to do it.To call them wifes is also not correct.Only a few again are actually married.Its just a village seremony and not worth anything realy.So why she work is simply because she was tired of asking for money and asked for this smal business she have now,and she dont want to quit.Makes her more independent also.

Ofcourse I do pay all the bills, and it dont hurt to get of the sofa or out of the beauty-salon.

 The mentality of the female in the touristplaces or Bangkok is different.

Let me just point out.I didnt make the joke about lawyers.I do know what they make and if my gf was a lawyer I would in fact stay home on my ass.

Living in the US, my wife handles the basic housing, food, clothing etc budget expenses. I handle the savings, pay the outside bills and handle our entertainment and travel money as well as any large purchase items. I give her $2,000 a month to handle her end and she does fine with it. My only rule is no credit cards and no debt. We are 100% debt free and intend to stay that way! Has worked well for 7 years.

My wife makes her own money from running 2 shops. I never pay for food etc., but pay whatever else we need (if she does not pay it herself).

 

I have no idea how much we spend on food, but I think it is a lot. Maybe THB 20.000-30.000 or more per month. But we also eat out a lot and we both like to eat :-)
