Human capacity building key to country’s manpower problems, forum told

CHIANG MAI: -- HUMAN CAPACITY building was the focus when participants from various sectors came together at an international forum to find ways for Thailand to step out of the middle-income trap.

 

Natapon Nimmanphatcharin, deputy director of Thailand’s National Food Institute (NFI), pointed out that at least five key industries in the country had manpower problems. 

 

He was speaking at the international forum “Moving Across the Middle Income Trap Border through Human Capacity Building” at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna in Chiang Mai. 

 

Ramhari Lamichhane, director-general of the Philippines’ Colombo Plan Staff College, said issues with social and entrepreneurial skills were among the challenges in delivering skilled workforce development in Asean.

Human capacity? Just genuinely reform the education system, and over a couple decades Thailand will prosper and progress significantly!

I think Thai people are born entrepreneurs, what is lacking is education, seed money and less "class" discrimination.

The basic Human capacity of being able to subtract 9 from 15, and get the correct answer of 6, without the use of a calculator would be a significant step in the right direction.

"Manpower problems" caused by too many vendors looking for a fast Baht with little work involved. Get them off the street, teach them a vocation/skill and into the work force. Problem solved.

Oh, and pay them a bit more than ThB8000 a month for 10 hours a day 6 days a week, otherwise they will go back to being street vendors.

Not to worry the new constitution will fix all of that along with the new media bill in the works.  Workers without access to social media will be able to "focus" better on becoming a good little skilled worker on the widget line.
