The Ministry of Transport unveiled Thailand’s 20-year development strategy for the nation's transport system during 2017-2036, and the five year plan during 2017-2021, with an increased emphasis on railway systems. In 2017, the Ministry of Transport will submit four service routes of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand to the cabinet’s meeting and push forward nine dual track routes and intercity railway projects.
