COMMITTEE SET TO BEGIN BY SHARING IDEAS WITH POLITICAL PARTIES ON SOCIAL CONTRACT

BANGKOK: -- THE RECONCILIATION preparation committee is ready to start its reconciliation effort with its assisting panels set to commence their assignments by engaging political parties in the sharing of ideas on conflict resolution, said Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, who supervised the committee’s first meeting yesterday.

Eleven reference issues to help frame the discussion were tabled and endorsed at the meeting.

The gathering of opinions and the “agreement of truth” draft are expected to be completed in April, the deputy PM said.

The agreement will be the “social contract” that all conflicting parties must abide by regardless of its legal bindingness, Prawit said. It is unclear whether the parties will have to sign the contract, but the deputy PM has said that they will be bound by social pressure.

Reconciliation to begin with ‘agreement on truth’: Prawit

You will agree the truth is what we say it is

I just cannot fathom whether Prawit is actually being serious or just trolling for lols. Someone should get him a login, he would fit in well.

Truth Hawaiian style?

And why do I think Prawit will define "the truth"?

From deep within a second rate mind a third rate mind struggles to the surface.

This mind numbing gobbledygook is so difficult to fathom, perhaps he is cleverer than we think.

I don't know what he is talking about.

That's ok, don't worry about it, because he doesn't either.

Keep your enemies confused, and your friends even more confused (art of confusion, Sun Tzu - <deleted>)

I sense another delay coming up.

"We'll they won't agree to reconciliation, they won't agree the 'truth' so how can we have an election?"

first agreement of truth - the public demanded the coup.

I think your crystal ball is working well.

Not that far of the truth.

Some demanded a coup others wanted an election.

Simple Junta-speak to English translation:

He wants red-shirts to sign some sort of enforceable document which states that they will "behave", and if they don't, they will be jailed and their assets seized.

He will be the sole arbiter of their behavior.

I suggest that  Prawit  will set the standard the way HE wants it to be  not the way the general population wants it to be

He is creating so many rules that this will not be a democracy

The junta has already said it will not sign this "social contract."

It make the laws - no need to be bound by them.

Prawit talking about truth...555555 That's fresh.

Guess who win. Tanks and disproportionate use of force against will.

(Joking)  no I think one side just had inferior amulets and fortune tellers !

Thailand has a long history of practicing revisionist history;whereby historical realities and facts are sandpapered, massaged and coerced by the current batch of contemporaries to fit their way of thinking and convenience and then presented as truth.

It's pretty simple, really. The truth is what he says it is. Kao jai?

Pt have said they will be happy to sign a reasonable document if that's what will make Suthep and Prawit happy for a democratic future.

The 2 main instigators of the document have refused to sign their own document before the deliberations have even started.

So, here we are at this place. ???

Agreement on truth! I understand now why the army does not want to sign it!

When we can all agree that 2+2=5, we can proceed.

Or maybe the 'red' side will insist their version of reconciliation is that they have done nothing wrong (one of their paymasters famous one liners) and they are entitled to rule, to break serious laws and conventions,  and entitled to claim amnesty for their salary provider. And in the same sentence they probably won't mention anything about a specific manifesto to move Thailand forward with equality for all.
