webfact Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Nok Air cancels free 15-kilo excess baggage weight for all promotion tickets BANGKOK: -- Nok Air has announced that it will cancel its excess 15-kilo free baggage weight on all promotion flights beginning February 20, but the 7-kilo carry-on baggage weight will remain free. The cancellation of the free excess baggage weight will be for passengers purchasing promotion tickets on all domestic flights. For the excess weight, Nok Air will charge 350 baht for the first 15-kilo baggage weight, and 1,400 baht for maxim weight of 40 kilos. The airline said passenger must purchase the excess weight while booking the ticket, and confirmation of the ticket must be made at least 24 hours before travelling on the flight. Carry-on baggage of 7-kilo remains free. But for passengers who purchase Nok Eco and Nok Flexi tickets, excess baggage weight of 15 and 20 kilos will remain free. prakhonchai nick Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 This will be the death of NOK. Confirmaation at least 24 hours before flights?...Only ailine I know that you cannot check in online until 24 hours before flights! Bye bye NOK
cnx355 Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I always use Nok ECO and this will remains at 15 kg allowance. Only the Promo very cheap ticket will not come with free allowance and they are usually selling very fast. I guess ... you will see an increase of people using cheap promo-ticket and carrying they big pack sack or multiple bags aboard as they do not enforce the 7 kilo rules yet.

Much the same as Air Asia then. If you have rules, enforce them!
harleyclarkey Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 excess 15-kilo free baggage This is not correct. Excess is over your allowance. It should read...Nok cancels 15kg checked allowance
siam2007 Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 NOK is by far the most poorly managed budget Airline of Thailand with a CEO who is more interested in celebrity-Promo-events than in running his Company. The happenings in the recent past (pilot strikes and the likes) speak for themselves. Thai Lion management is for sure having a blast reading these news
KhunBENQ Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 With or without promo Nok Air is totally useless for me. Just checked a real life example. Flying on 13 March Khon Kaen to Bangkok. Todays prices: ThaiSmile 1280 incl. 20 kg baggage (to Suvarnabhumi). NokAir 1409 (NokEco) incl. 15 kg (to Don Mueang). And personally I prefer (want to go to) Suvarnabhumi and not Don Mueang. I only once had to sit in one of the worn out NokAir planes. No desire for another ride. And I have done my booking on Feb 2 with ThaiSmile which was a promo at that time for 838 Baht.
Razzler1973 Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 This is a shame as I have flown Nok a fair few times. Last trip thought I discovered that Thai Smile was also quite cheap and there was certainly no issue flying with them either. Nok do the flight/boat combo to some islands though and seemed like Air Asia do that as well but others it's not so common but just have to old skool it and go to the town and then the pier instead
