You are forgetting a tiny thing, the army is much more powerfull than the police ever was. They are not here to reform Thailand, they are here to make sure they continue to have direct influence in how Thailand is run. And does anyone honestly believe they will allow a full return to democracy for the next two decades ? The army is part of the problem, not the solution. They should be replaced by democratically elected politicans.

I still don't get how anyone could trust them, they are not only equally corrupt (no, more corrupt actually) have surpesssed anyone who criticized them, and are not accountable to anyone.

Time to admit that the situation got progressively worse, and anyone thinking the devide in this society will magically go away are dreaming and apparently failed to learn from history. Of course anyone having faith in the Thai army have failed to read up on that particular history.

Army may be more powerful, but the police is more intertwined with lives of thai citizens. Getting bribes from traffic stops to businesses. Police are suppose to enforce laws, but they prey on the citizens and tourist alike. This is why I say police has a bigger impact on the country than the army. The situation did not get worse, its already so bad that it can't get any worse.

Living here over 30 years, I have yet to be threatened or ask for a bribe from soldiers/army. Yet countless times by police from routine traffic stop to arresting my legal foreign workers just to name a few.

Ask any Thai citizens, if soldiers or police are more trust worthy, majority will say soldier. Police are the scums of thai society.

Actually, since the 2006 coup, the PPT has been in power during 3 years and half  only (less if you don't count the caretaker period).

You are correct, I wasn't thinking how fast a decade already past ever since Thaksin was in power. I was trying to say from when Thaksin's TRT and PTP combined.  They were in office for a long time. They were in office long enough to bring about meaningful change.

Agree, and especially the last sentence.

And they didn't, in fact they were totally focused on just one thing - the trough.

How many discussions did they generate in parliament in regard to taking Thailand forward, serious upgrade of education, new laws / adjustments to laws to encourage new technology development, reform of the RTP etc etc etc. None.

How often did the paid red parliamentarians / thaksins paid yes men ever stand up and make insightful, value added speeches etc. Nil.
