Alcoholic drowns in the lavatory with his head in a bucket

PAYAO: -- Police were called to a house in Payao yesterday where a man was found in a toilet dead with his head in a large water bucket.

Amnuay Katip was dressed in shorts and t-shirt and had his head lodged in the bucket. Police and medics assessed he had already been dead six hours, reported Thairath.

Locals told the cops that Amnuay was an alcoholic and would shake if he did not get a drink. He had split up with his hill tribe wife some time before and gone to live with his elder brother in Ang Thong sub-district of Payao.

Police surmised that while using the toilet he had slipped and fell into the bucket. He had probably passed out and drowned in the water.

Very unfortunate. Is the picture really necessary? Blurred or not, that's massively disrespectful in a country that talks a lot about honour and respect.

I agree. The headline and the picture just deprave individual's demise unnecessarily. It moves beyond being newsworthy to being disparaging.

We have become by degree too adjusted to what is presented.

Perhaps they should make such photos mandatory on bottles of alcoholic drinks, like those on packs of cigarettes...

Disgraceful to use that photo. The poor man is entitled to an exit with some dignity and his battles with the bottle do not lessen that right. The Thai media seems to love publishing pictures of people in extremis and beyond but professes outrage when someone's foot is seen protruding from a vehicle. It's all totally <deleted>-up and insensitive beyond description.

Toilet paper is the safer bet here....

No one ever drowned like this at a restaurant table, as far as I know.  :coffee1:

I don't know anyone who takes a shit at a restaurant table, no matter how nice the toilet paper.

I think the Thai-logic is that when you are dead, you can not lose face.

I also just complained this same point on the story about the viagra guy death with a hard on. Really not classy at all.

A needless and very sad death, brought to us by bad taste reporting.

I, along with I suspect most people posting, have on various occasions, been so unbelievably drunk that I have crashed out in some unusual places and poses, with little or no memory in the morning.

Yet some seem to think his demise a good opportunity for jokes in as poor taste as the photo.

Let he who is without sin, and in this case, never been blind drunk, throw the first stone.

:cheesy:Sorry, i cant help it,died with his head in a bucket? why did he put his head in the bucket, in the first place? was there some moonshine in it? or was he trying to get his loa koa out that he had dropped in it? Even Ken Follet couldn't write this. Only in this country could this happen. Will it be a suicide? or a murder by drowning,by person or persons unknown.Christ, ive known some serous alkies in my time as a bar owner, but never expiring in this manner.

Amazing Thailand, and things to put on your bucket list.

Don't know about the contents of the bucket, but there was some serious "moon-shine" in that pic! :omfg: :vampire:

Sad way to go.

I wonder if a broken heart caused him to give up on life?

I'm seeing more and more suspicious deaths with recent break ups reported.

A bar fine could have saved him!

How exactly is the reporti poor or the headline disparaging?

He was an alcoholic, who died in the lavatory, by drowning after falling in the bucket. The headline states the facts.

Or are you a bit prissy- would you prefer, man passes away peacefully

 after final drink.

Have you ever bathed the corpse of a young friend at a Thai temple?  Or come upon an accident scene? Try it, it might help realising what happens when death occurs.
