tussle with monks.

Why don't these supposedly peaceful monks step aside .......................... do they actually want confrontation ?

Let the police enforce the laws of the country - you are not above that unless "Orange is the new Black"

Not Monks mostly. Just criminals in camouflage or kitty fiddlers trying to hide.

A police van with loud speakers is at the market outside the temple. Looks to me they will march in again and shout orders at the monks and their supporters like previous days. 2 photos if the police van last photo of a similar operation 3 days ago.

The police and the army are taking turns to wear down their resistance.

Monks should avoid confrontation ..................... these are making confrontation. Why don't they stand aside and be peaceful?

Buddhism is about being satisfied with what you have; being content with simple clothes, a roof over your head and a bowl of rice.

How many Thai's do we know that strive for bigger cars, bigger houses, more money, the latest phone, several women, more money, wealth etc etc and this wanton greed causes grief, stress, fighting, death .........

Conclusion; there isn't a true Buddhist in Thailand (okay, maybe one or two).

I think we all know the Dhammakaya temple has some dodgy friends, possibly a couple of ex-prime ministers but the government/army must be very careful. If a monk was some how killed during a military operation the electorate whom have seen there income fall and life become harder since the last coupe would blame the military/government not the monks.

I am in no way trying to justify some dodgy monks but if there is ever a free election again the army/government will find things difficult, never mind if they have the blood of monks on there hands.

If they had cooperated with the police investigation like every other Thai citizen is expected and obligated to do instead of playing hide and seek with their Abbott, the government wouldn't have had to do this.

It's the Tiger Temple all over again because of a false sense of entitlement and privilege just because the have a lot of cash.

No it's a temple outside Bangkok that has dedicated it's time to preach about meditating for world peace.

who incidentally embezzle, defraud,  and now pervert and flout justice. They are not above the law, or are they? Special treatment for criminals who hide behind an orange robe? They should all be given a pair of bracelets and an orange jumpsuit compliments of the county jail.

One nutter with a gun could change this so very quickly.....but I guess Prawit and Chaktip know better!

Aye:

Just change the color from Safran to red...

Just change the location from Dhammakaya to Rajaprasong....

And it has total "deja vu" all over it....

They better go slow on that one, but on the other hand they have not much choice but to lose face, since they are already in pretty deeply....

Deja vu all over :shock1:

Actually, I think their speciality is money laundering.

Plus holding up placards in English which are untruthful. What are they hoping to hide?

I ask again, rhetorical question, who is actively and deliberately winding up the monks and followers.

Who is it?

Who has most to gain by keeping the authorities from seeing everything in every corner inside the space ship, keeping the press from photographing every item, the fittings or whatever inside every room etc., and seeing exactly who is inside.

I hope the authorities are seriously investigating these points.

Its more accurately what it has taken to get through those who are dedicating their time to sheltering a serious criminal.

The brutal face of fascism aiming to tighten its grip on the people. They should leave the damn place alone. There's no justification for causing this much disruption just looking for one person.

Fascism.  Nope, trying to get justice for thousands of folks, many very poor, who had their life savings stolen from a very highly corrupt credit union who have billions to baht and given to a false monk.  A monk who has been in trouble before for massive embezzlement.

Do you honestly think this is all about fighting corruption?

Re-write of above to fix my serious mistakes:

Fascism.  Nope, trying to get justice for thousands of folks, many very poor, who had their life savings stolen by highly corrupt senior managers etc., of their credit union. And the senior coupt managers of the credit union (the thieves) gave the stolen funds (gave it not a loan) to a false monk who preaches to his naive followers that they can buy (for big money) a select place in heaven. None of this is aligned in any way to Buddhist precepts.

The monk who was the main recipient has been in trouble before in regard to massive amounts of funds.

Perhaps about gaining justice for the folks who had their deposits stolen?

Perhaps about applying the law?

What do you think it's about?

It's about social control.

It's about extirpating a significant social challenge to the establishment.

It's about wresting religion (and the money associated with religion) back into the junta's comfortable sphere of supervision.

It's about quashing a group that has become too powerful that the junta fears may have social influence beyond their control.

It's about the junta's instinctive fear of an extremely large, highly organised and disciplined group of people.

It's about the junta's fear that the place might have political connections or influence.

You think the military junta has any sort of record for upholding the law?

You don't see all the examples of the  junta crushing its political enemies and keeping the people under control?

You still think this is all about fighting corruption...?

Oh yes, it's Thaksin fault again.

Get over him. Everyone else has.
