Beware Of This Nasty Bunch Of Katoeys!

Featured Replies

Just a word of warning for those single guys walking home late at night from the bars around Koktanod road in Kata. There is a nasty bunch of Katoeys in this area who harrass those that do not want their services. Recently a friend was stabbed with a broken beer bottle and a customer woke up to find another Katoey (he recognised from this group) trying to steal his camera from his bungalow. Other customers walking home through this area have also complained that these guys/gals are verbally abusive and are constantly trying to cause physical fights or follow them home. Apparently this group is getting bigger and bigger and is becoming more of a problem than before. They are located outside a popular mini supermarket store (no name mentioned) and move around the entrances of a few hotel resorts in this area.

Good warning Chantal.

In Bangkok its the Soi dogs

In Phuket its the katoeys

In Pattaya its both .... :o

You mean there are no katoeys in Bangkok? :o

Thanks for the warning Chantal, I'll remember that if I'm in the area.

It would be nice if the police, tourist or otherwise, moved these pests on, but hel_l I'm dreaming again.

Yikes - pretty disturbing behaviour. Sounds like MIB needs to take some action.

same thing happens on the beach at night in patong, its virtually a no go area because of the tw**s.also around c&n hotel and soi sansabai at closing time.take a tuk tuk don,t stroll home mao it may cost 100 bht but you could lose a lot more. :o

Hmmm at no problem around C&N hotel, mind you got propositioned late at nite on way back. Politely declined and was on my way.

Politely declined and was on my way.

That's been my experience too. A quick smile, a "Sorry sweetheart, not my style" and they move on to the next mark.

Unfortunately these Katoeys react very agressively to rejection. It would be nice if they would move on but they dont. Some of the guys now walk along Kata Beach to avoid this group in order to get home at the southern end of Kata Beach. Another friend of mine was doing his early morning bicycle ride and he was also attacked. These guys really are vicious!

funny watching them trying to run after you in the size 12 high heels though.......

actually they even chase after you on mopeds an all - not quite sure what part of NO they don't understand

Hmmm... just another "danger" to add onto the list for Phuket.

1. Violent tuk tuk drivers

2. Armed katoey gangs

3. Drive-by shootings/ muggings

4. Blatant over-pricing

Anything else?

With "87%" boom in tourism for the season, one would think there was plenty of wealth to share around without such violence directed at the foreigners who helped get this island back on its feet so quickly after tragedy struck - not quite 2 short yrs ago.

Short memories, huh? Shame!!! :o

There are few problems:

1-They are straving and see you eating jumbo lobsters, Put yourself in their place, what you expect?

2-Some farangs look not only naive but softy also, so don't look at them at all, so you don't get their attention?

3-If they still hassle you, try to speak thai a bit like"pam pam mai dai loey krap" or "mee faen leaw krap "these will turn them off completly

They never hassle me. even i keep staring at them all the time

I'm sure the MIB know all about it by now. I suspect the problem will soon be sorted. If not, a letter to the Gazette often works wonders at getting the local authorities moving.

Kick em in the nuts, you may have to get them out of the jar sitting on the shelf first though :o

They never hassle me. even i keep staring at them all the time

When you pay fairly they don't bother you much, quite true! :o:D

Two days ago the latest victim was attacked and wounded with a blunt knife and given a black eye. This happened outside a certain coffee shop in this area who switches off all the lights when closed. Unfortunately the victim did not report this to the Chalong Police as he had to return home the next day.

A previous victim has gone around to the hotels that these katoeys hang around to warn the receptionists and security guards - unfortunately there is nothing that they can do unless an attack happens within the premises.

The Chalong Police have been informed but there is nothing that they can do as they are far too busy. So I suppose we will just have to wait and see. :o

The victim really should file a report. That pushes the police into action. I've seen how the Patong police will come down real hard on the ladyboy scams and ripoffs.

BKKDUDE! what in the world is a "torjan"x10? :o

I suppose english isn't your first language. :D

People really should file reports. Its the only way the police will ever get the message.

At present, they know we back down so they use it to get out of doing anything helpful. Once they get the message that you stand your ground, they avoid confrontation with you, by getting off their <deleted>.

Try it, some of them are quite helpful these days.
