I work on multiple computers, for different companies. So you think trying to install an app on EVERY device is better than simply having a pair of computer glasses? Really? Wow.... Sorry I missed the link..... but one would think that having the link one could spell the company name correctly... LOL I'm willing to bet that the majority of folks needing the 'special glasses' don't continuously work with multiple PCs.... unless perhaps your job is in IT... I have a Smartphone which I don't use for internet connection, a laptop, and a desktop..... so for me it's only a matter of downloading the app twice...... doesn't take too long and not too difficult.... :-)
KhonKaenKowboy Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Use larger fonts on your monitor...buy a better/or bigger monitor....
Stubby Posted April 13, 2017 Author Posted April 13, 2017 Just a quick update folks. I recently bought a new HP computer screen. It has setting called Low Blue Light, which is supposed to be easy on the eyes. Whether it is, or whether it's just a marketing ploy, I don't know yet. Stubby

They are esp good at fixing up the frames and cleaning for no cost, just goodwill. Vision Centre ,parking at rear, best in CM by a country mile. He will also scan your new prescription lenses into existing frames if you are happy with them

Stubby Combine it with Windows 10 creative update which has the new “Night Light” feature designed to reduce the amount of blue lighted emitted, something that is said to have an adverse effect on sleep patterns.
Rama Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I'll second the optician near the UN Irish pub. Professional optician. My eyes have different focal lengths and I have a little astigmatism in one eye. I could use the cheap off the counter stuff sold everywhere but if you do a lot of reading you're better off going to a professional. Got a pair 3 years ago for 2000 baht. You don't need lens coatings or scratch resistance on reading glasses. The problem with ordering off the internet is once you order the glasses, they're not fitted properly to your head as a professional optician will do. He's a few doors East of the Irish pub.
Moonlover Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 First out, before you spend any money on eye glasses, check out your lifestyle. If you only need reading glasses, as apposed to full corrective lenses, this suggests that you do not have much wrong with your eyes as far focus is concerned. I'm guessing that you have the usual problem known as Presbyopia, which makes it more difficult to focus close up as we age. We all get it don't we!!! Why I homed in on lifestyle is because you said it yourself, you spend a lot of time on your computer. Constant close up focusing can cause eye strain and induce headaches. May I make two suggestions? Firstly, I agree with earlier comments. Have your eyes checked by an eye doctor, not a high street optician, whose only motivation is to flog you eye wear. And get a prescription from him. Secondly adopt the 20/20/20 rule whenever you're spend time at the keyboard. Never heard of it? Here goes. Every 20 minutes get up and spend at least 20 seconds focusing at least 20 meters away. Try and make it longer if you can. I also suggest that you focus on greenery if possible. This helps to relax the eyes. Your eyes have a lot of muscles, and just like muscles elsewhere they do get tired. And finally, I'm sorry to say this, but at 14,000 Baht for reading glasses, you were seriously ripped off. I've just bought my wife new Rayban frames with multi-focal, light reactive lenses which cost me 11,000 Baht. And I was probably ripped off even then!! But, well, she's worth it. Take care now and good luck.
