A Very Sporting Declaration

Featured Replies

Amazingly sporting declaration by Punter this arvo.

With two days remaining, the aussies have really asked the question of the poms, "put up or shut up".

Already one wicket down, but only chasing a little over 500 in 2 days, the poms are RIGHT in this.

IMO we should have given them 700 to chase with a day and a half....

This underground aussie desire to see the "ol' blighty" do well, should have been put to bed after RU '03, and Ashes '05.

It's going to be cruel watching the poms capitulate again tomorrow, but it's going to be memorable I'm sure. :D

(I hate the fact you can't edit the heading to fix a typo) :o

What was memorable was Gilchrists century today. Any cricket fan who missed seeing it are all the poorer.

It would have been the fastest test century in history if not for the Poms delibrately, and unsportingly, bowling wide, unplayable balls at him when near the record. As it was, he scored the second fastest ton of all time, missing the record by one ball.

He belted Monty for 24 in one over with some of the best big hitting seen. :o

We\poms do not bowl wide to spoil someones fun, we are taught from a young age that anywhere in the general direction is good enough.

Not sporting to try and hit the wicket don't y know.

Gillies batting was a joy to watch, back on the subject, its an achievable target, they declared at 500 and lost the game, I wonder if that was Punters real motivation

Watched that ball being bowled and was disgusted that they couldnt give him an even chance of getting the record....the look on the bowlers face afterwards suggested that he was acting under instructions. Having said that, a couple of big hits earlier would have assured him of the record, after all if he had 6 balls to face on 98 they couldnt get away with bowling 6 wides at him....could they ???

Your right of course Croc...........we should have done it the Aussie way and rolled it along the ground. :o

Good point, but that was to win a game, whereas the English just didn't want another major batting record against them.

(The NZers have now lost their high moral ground gained with that underarm ball.

They ran Murili out the other day when he went down the pitch to congratulate his batting partner for getting a 100!) :o

If you think that the run out was loosing the high moral ground, then you are a deluded person.try another one young fella,'cause nothing beats the premeditated aussie cheats.......

Thank god he didn't get the record. Record stays with IVA Richards - a true genius of the game. Not some agricultural cow lasher that conned the world he is sporting by cynically walking in the world cup final and since milking his new found honest status (an honest Aussie did people really believe this!!!) by appealing for everything - making gullible umpires believe 'yeah that must be out - Gillie only appeals if its out'. Disgraceful! How different this series may have been if Strauss wasn't cheated out three times?

One only has to watch podgy Warnes antics to realise cricket is poorer by this cheating bunch of convicts reclaiming the ashes!

Australia may get the ashes but England can at least feel we played the game in the correct spirit of the game!

And that as we all know deep down, is the most important thing!

Notice it is the same two umpires who stuffed up so many decisions 18 months ago?

In my opinion the two worst on the roster.

One is deaf as a post and doesn't hear snicks and the other has a sight problem with LBWs and throws his finger up indiscriminately.

England have certainly been on the wrong end of a few crap decisions this test!

Agree with the pudgy Warne comment, he seems to have started Xmas early!

Still, he managed to bowl all day yesterday, albeit without much luck.

Keep up those spirits mate, it's a bit gloomy here this morning, you never know, we might get some rain! Or perhaps the captain will find form and belt a quick 150!

Yeah you sure do need it.

At least you haven't run out of excuses for your pathetic team.

You're a credit to your Country. :o
