I agree with him to get rid of this soap. Getting rid of all the Thai Soaps would be a great idea, because they are all awful.

This one shows perfectly though Thai hypocrisy in all its malevolent light. You can rip the neighours, but 15 years in jail if you try it back.

I treated this thread like a Thai soap, in from one ear out from the other, until I saw boobies and the funny hats. Yeah, they definitely should incorporate the ancient khmer soft porn dancers into the soaps, some real culture for a change.

Remember when the Cambodians ransacked and torched Thai assets in and around Phnom Penh incl. the Thai Airways office.
Remember the soap where the Laotians complained about how much the Thais look down onto their Northeastern neighbour.
As Myanmar has no lese majésté laws the latest story will go unpunished.

The answer is simple, racism is rampant here and the super race is called "Pen Khon Thai". Be it two-tier pricing or the way the non-Thais are treated. Ever tried to purchase a car on credit, impossibility to own land - legally, that is - in a non-Thai name? Those longer in the land will remember that cars and motorbikes, even against full upfront payment, could not be owned by non-Thais and a child born in Thailand gets on its upper right corner the categorization into "Thai" or "Non-Thai".

So, when in Thailand, accept what they do/dont do with you - or leave; you will not teach them anything and you'll fail in your hammering efforts of common sensing .....

That is good advice. After all you're against a national brainwashing machine presiding over the entire lifespan of Thais, no hope for crusaders.

Sorry, but you are mixing nationalism with racism. In this particular case, the Burmese are offended by their neighbors the Thais.

They exhibit blatant racism towards non-Asian foreigners, double charging and immigration rules etc.,  and adopt a superiority complex when dealing with their Asian neighbors, particularly Lao, Khmer and Burmese..

Anyone reading the English translation can see just how nationalistic and by extension, xenophobic, the Thais really are.

This anthem says it all.

Thai National Anthem (translated to English).

Thailand embraces in its bosom all people of Thai blood.
Every inch of Thailand belongs to the Thais.
It has long maintained its sovereignty,
Because the Thais have always been united.
The Thai people are peace-loving,
But they are no cowards at war.
They shall allow no one to rob them of their independence,
Nor shall they suffer tyranny.
All Thais are ready to give up every drop of blood
For the nation’s safety, freedom and progress.

Woosh, that's a heavy dose of propaganda in the anthem.

Brought to you courtesy of the Thai army, by Phibun the Dictator. Remember that next time you stand in attention at the BTS station, the master's voice is commanding the peasants.

Thai soap angers family of Myanmar's last king

The family of Myanmar's last king hit out on Sunday at a Thai soap opera inspired by the palace intrigue of their ancestors, accusing Thailand of double standards in how it treats another country's royals.

Soe Win, the great grandson of Myanmar's last monarch King Thibaw, told AFP his family were angered by "A Lady's Flame", a new hit prime-time soap that recounts a bloody dynastic power struggle.

The show is set in a fictional kingdom but almost entirely mimics the final years of the Konbaung dynasty in the 19th century in the country formerly known as Burma.

It portrays the scheming among a key queen and princesses who orchestrated the massacre of nearly a hundred people to ensure Thibaw had no rivals to the throne following his father's death in 1878.

While the massacre is historical fact, Thibaw's scions are upset with their family's portrayal by a country that shields its own monarchy from any criticism.

One could take issue with each line of that easily....
