The "Uniqueness" of Pattaya

The Uniqueness of Pattaya.

Hardly a week goes by, without some "Governement Body" in Thailand proclaiming to "clean-up" Pattaya. (Not garbage-wise, well understood).

- Don't they understand that the "red-light-factor" makes Pattaya unique in this universe ?

- Don't they understand that after a successful "clean-up", Pattaya would just be another Beach Resort. Worldwide, there must be a thousand Beach Resorts. All of them look and feel the same. A "cleaned-up" Pattaya will just be 1 in a thousand others. Just a little dirtier (garbage-wise) and generally a little more polluted and a little more traffic congestion than the other 999 Beach Resorts.

With the "red light factor" gone, I know a few people that would not holiday in Pattaya anymore. Once the TAT and other Thai "think-tank" wizards realize, that they managed to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, it will be too late.

The "bad-press" that Pattaya got from the "western-media" will be blamed. Disregarding the fact, that the "bad-press" had a more favorable effect on Pattaya Tourism, than any promotional campaign the TAT could ever launch.

Once more, the final analysis must be: "This is Thailand", no more, no less.

Recommendation: Visit Pattaya as often as possible before the "clean-up" is completed.

Cheers.

There are loads of places with hookers all over the world. Nothing unusual here at all, except possibly the level of "in-your-faceness".

Hardly an hour goes by without some boring TV member suggesting exactly the same.

A post discussing the specifics of prostitution has been removed as well as the replies.  As this topic seems to be an invitation to discuss prostitution which is in violation of forum rules:

17) You will not discuss the specifics of prostitution. Though Thailand has a visible sex industry, and acknowledgement of that fact is not forbidden, ThaiVisa is not the place to seek or give information on this topic, regardless of your sexual habits, preferences or orientation.
