snoop1130
Red-shirt leaders probably doomed: Jatuporn By The Nation Red-shirt leaders will probably be killed or jailed, key leader Jatuporn Prompan said on Wednesday. Such a conclusion was based on his political experiences over the past decade, said Jatuporn, chairman of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD). “After working with the UDD in our political fight over the past 10 years, I am well aware of our destiny. Finally, we have two choices – getting killed or being put in jail,” he said. Jatuporn, who has been released on bail during a trial on terrorism charges, joined a large group of red-shirt leaders and supporters visiting 13 UDD figures detained at a remand prison in Chon Buri in connection with the disruption of the Asean Summit in 2009. On Tuesday, the Pattaya Provincial Court delivered the Appeal Court verdict against Arisman Pongruangrong, Nisit Sinthuprai, Payap Panket, Worachai Hema and other red-shirt leaders convicted of leading thousands of red-shirt protesters into the summit venue. The 13 red-shirt leaders were each sentenced to four years’ imprisonment. At the time, government leaders from Asean countries were about to meet with dialogue partners at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel in Pattaya. The break-in resulted in the meeting being cancelled and the participants being evacuated in dramatic fashion. The Appeal Court in effect upheld the ruling by a lower court in March 2015. On Wednesday, more than 50 people went to visit the detained red-shirt leaders at the Pattaya Remand Prison, also known as Nong Pla Lai prison, in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district. The visitors included family members and red-shirt leaders, including Jatuporn, Nuttawut Saikuar, Weng Tojirakarn and Thida Thawornseth. The visit lasted about half an hour, after which the red-shirt leaders talked to the media. bangrak
No doubt according to Buddhist faith they are 'doomed', to have a long stay in the hottest hell available... But killed... Though some of them would deserve it, I don't think so, who would make his hands dirty doing that, and give a good opportunity to the red thugs to create some more bloodshed and evil? As for rotting in jail, that's no doubt where Jatu and consorts do belong, but it seems they wear the right magic amulets, as, time after time, again and again, they become 'suspended sentences' or are let to go on with their stinking propaganda by an 'N'th bail, but maybe by judges put in place by their creator and sponsor, at the time he was the dictator-in-spe of this medieval country... The yellow shirts are also terrorists then as they have taken the lives of the innocent. What happened to reconciliation? Love thy brother, all Thai's together, building a better future, healing the wounds and becoming a strong, patriotic nation. Stop the hate Smedly, a Thai is a Thai. I see only a redshirt organisation active in Thailand, I believe that is what this topic is about, if I could identify any other terrorist organisation in Thailand I would be just as critical of them too. JAG
You have to wonder why, after 3 years, the Junta haven't jailed / disposed of the core red shirt leadership. Could it be that they don't want to risk lighting a fire which they might not be able to control?

Not that they are a peacefull organisation seeking the establishment of democracy in Thailand, is it...? Rather a band of violent thugs organised into an utterly dangerous armed militia, or is it rather someones private army, next to his pretorian guard clad in brown, wouldn't you say? sweatalot
Red-shirt leaders probably doomed: and right so that's what they deserve I wonder why some of them are still not jailed they incited unrest, they called to burn down Bangkok, they had their followers cheer when children were killed - compare this with the mushroom picking couple this scum needs to be extinguished
Moonmoon
Well if the junta or democrats can really do a good job of running the country, nobody would want to join the red shirts anymore. Everyone would be busy making money n having a good secure life. I sure hope the Junta can eradicate the reds in this way rather than killing or jailing them. Silly people, time has a habit of showing up those who are naive. The right idea is love. This is a time of mourning for all Thai people. Stop the hatred and begin the love. Work together, no more divisions, no more blame. Move on Thailand. The hub of South East Asia. Show everyone what a great nation Thailand can be.That is my opinion as a foreigner living here. What Thai people do is of course up to them. Through all the up and down of politics, protests and coups, it has always been a pleasure to have the opportunity to live in this wonderful country and it's friendly people. jesimps
Still waiting for Suthep, Issara and co to be brought to book for occupying Bangkok and govt buildings for three months, not to mention blockading the polling stations. Makes what happened at the Royal Cliff Beach seem trivial. Reconciliation my rear end, it's the eradication of a whole political party and its allies. I doubt that is the reason, the reason is the slow court proceedings, these guys are now convicted for a 2009 event. The 2010 stuff where people like Jatuporn let red shirts bring benzine to burn BKK is still in the motions. There is no need to make up charges these guys thought they were above the law and slowly (real real real slow) the law is catching up.

Not every red shirt is bad.. but a large part is quite bad and proven when they were cheering about the attack in Trad. I find it real vile if supporters cheer for an armed attack on opponents with casualties. More then a few cheered for this event, now I don't know how that looks to you.. but to me it looks real bad and brands at least a large part of them as supporters of terrorism.
