Back Doctor in Chiang Mai Suggestions?

Featured Replies

Looking for a Back Doctor in Chiang Mai that you have had good experiences with.  Good English is a bonus when discussing medical things of course

someone skilled in lower back, disc degeneration, spine disorders etc.

Thank you all

Name of Doctor and Hospital and why you think they are good would be most helpful

I've been to a few.   Dr. Sutthee was the only one i really trusted.....he is now officially retired.   Others have the standard

answers:     anti-inflamatories and exercise.     For those of us with slightly more complex issues its very difficult to

find the  "solution".    I  am now thinking of some form of injection to ease the worsening condition that time creates.

( i know there will be some who will say NEVER do cortisone shots, etc).... I favor natural remedies too, but sometimes

we have to give in.  Especially when pain becomes the focus of life.

Anyway,  I also would like to hear of Dr. recommendations and personal experiences.

Lanna hospital opposite  Tescos on the superhighway has a specialist back pain, centre ,ask to see the older doctor when booking in it may be best to take a Thai speaker with you to explain that fact to reception.

I am not sure of the doctors name he speaks excellent English I have two degenerative dics L4 and 5 . after taking various drugs prescribed I was a lot better but still have some pain which is now easily controlled by NSAIDS .

Now for the exercising!!!

Probably the most capable spine surgeon in CM, now that Dr Sudhee has retired, is Assistant Professor Dr Torphong Bunmaprasert who works out of CM RAM hospital on Saturdays but also has his own clinic (after 4:30pm)  opposite Airport Mall on the Hang Dong road.

Orthopeadics and Spine Surgery

Chiang Mai RAM hospital on Saturday 053 920300

Own clinic opposite Robinsons airport, on Hang Dong road, after 5pm

Clinic phone number, 053 284 535

Chanakarn Phornphutkul, M.D. One of the best in Thailand. Travels with, and treats the Olympic team, etc. Very nice guy who speaks absolutely perfect English. Does not try to suggest unnecessary surgical procedures, etc. Not expensive. His clinic is right around the corner from Rajavej Hospital. You will have to search the forum for his telephone number and call and see which evenings he is in as I forget now. He is very popular and well respected.
