The driver got out and there was an altercation that he filmed. After the taxi - registration Mor Chor 3666 Bangkok - drove off Chayanan asked the man what happened. He said that the driver had demanded 1,000 baht and that he paid up claiming the driver had threatened him with shooting. He said he feared for the life of his daughter who was with him. Thai Rath reported that Boy went to police and understand that a statement about the matter will be made soon. TVGerry
Haven't met an Uber driver that behaves like the taxi thugs here yet. And it's amusing that certain posters condone this kind of behavior by this taxi gangster just because the victim is supposedly 'hiso'

Howitzer
What does it mean by he bashed another taxi that refused to stop? He used his hand and punched it? Also how do you bash something that's moving so quick especially a vehicle that didn't stop for him? I suppose he hit the vehicle with his hand i guess while it slowed down but didn't stop for him? Howitzer
so it affects thais just as much as foreigners. Am curious though why didn't they stop for this guy who looks thai? That guy being a thai and a famous one at that and has probably lived in thailand and bkk all his life would have known of spots where to take a taxi wouldn't he and where they won't stop for anyone so he could have gone on to another different location wouldn't he? Why didn't he take a motorcycle taxi? His daughter looks old enough to sit on one and both of them could have sat on the bike anyway.
tukkytuktuk
The taxi driver should be charged with attempted murder. What if this was you. Your in a taxi, he won't stop. You panic and cause a fuss. He slams on the brakes. Pulls a gun out of the glove compartment. Aims it at your son or daughter's head and demands 1000 baht.It would take weeks, years to get over such an ordeal. You would be mentally scared for life.Lock this maniac up and ban him from driving taxis forever.
Howitzer
being a soap director and tv executive doesn't really make someone that recognizable on the streets would he even though the reports states that he's well known.

WhizBang
Last Friday night, when leaving Tawandang Rama 3 around midnight, we had at least 8 taxis refuse to take us to Asoke. One driver even said he did not know Asoke when he drove off. Bring on Uber and put these guys out of business, I say. Good to see the recent poll had 70-80% of those polled in favor of Uber. Doubt the government cares though.
NextStationBangkok
These idiots are called Big Taxi, and they stop for passenger. Only board 4-6 foreigners with big luggage, and dump them at Suvarnabhumi Airport for 1000-1500 Baht. Non-negotiable, have good connection with hotels. I am not sure why Thailand gives Taxi number for these thugs. These are suppose to be listed as Limousine and taxed higher. I never stop them, they act like as of they are private drivers for Army General. If no passenger, they sometimes stop, after we tell destination they never wanted to go. Better these thugs to be put off road.

madusa
I am not sure about Thailand, in Singapore when the taxi changing shift they wouldn't stop to pick up anyone because they have to be sure to hand over the taxi on time to the next driver. May be he was just unlucky that day that several taxis having urgent matter to attend to cannot stop to pick him up. All kinds of reasons that you may not be able to think of. Tracyb
Another example of how courteous, thoughtful, helpful, and customer oriented the BKK Taxi drivers behave. Start taking some licenses away. Reduce the number of Taxis on the road by limiting the number of days they can drive, and let Uber compete for the business. See what happens in a free market competition for business. oldcarguy
I think its great that he is making a stink about this , if it was a "regular" person it would just be another day . another a-hole taxi driver If this "Famous" guy can keep up the pressure with talking about it on radio and TV maybe something will happen, But I doubt he will keep up the pressure , and nothing will change, I still think the Army needs to do a sting , and whichever taxi does not stop or use meter is driven away by the Army and parked for 7 days,,,,,,,,much better than 1000 baht fine which seems to be the normal wrist slap
