Ah yes God a friend of mine has spent a lifetime its an obsession to prove that there is none.

There is no proof one way or the other; it all amounts to belief. I believe if there was a god, he/she/it would not let children and innocents suffer. Yet, they do suffer.

I was watching the news and it seems that the Bill O'Reilly show did not finish last night. He did not return after the break. After loosing so many advertising names and we are talking big ones maybe the Gods of Greed called him upstairs for a reckoning. Your a golden haired boy as long as your bringing in those ad dollars but if they dry up its clean out your office time.

His shows are prerecorded, they're never live. Don't get me wrong, I think the man is evil, but the show either airs in whole or there are technical difficulties preventing the show's completion.

Or buying your wife a new kitchen *

Buying your wife a new kitchen is like is like paying a hooker for sex--absolutely asinine.    Everyone knows paying a hooker for sex is like buying your deceased mother a casket.

O'Reilly is not addressing the issue and the reason is he really can't. Most likely he has a signed agreement with the woman he paid about 9 million dollars to not to case aspersions on her because if he did, she could have the recording she made of his damaging remarks to her made public.

What's really bizarre though is that O'Reilly's ratings have gone up since the NY Times broke the story.

Not bizarre at all. If his audience are like me, they despise the PC culture and the attempts of women to revenge themselves on men by using social media to cast aspersions. This sort of BS makes me support him more.

As he says, being a public figure brings the gold diggers out, and given the American legal system, paying someone off can be cheaper than defending innocence.

IMO, it's time for all male public figures to have themselves video taped every time a female goes near them, as a self defense measure ( much like using a dash cam in a car ). There have been too many prominent males brought down by women using slurs to get money or notoriety.

Not so. Whenever anything happens re "breaking news" his show is taken off the air to show the other item. I guess one can see the whole show on his website.

I don't understand any of that. Why wouldn't anyone buy their mother a casket for burial?

Then why is it that other fox news anchors aren't being besieged with law suits. Or other news anchors elsewhere? He paid 9 million dollars in one case where the plaintiff was producing quotes. 9 million dollars for a baseless case? Really?

Fox investigating itself is kinda like the House Intelligence Committee investigating Russia/Trump connections.  Each day, a little bit of nothing gets done.  Next day; same.  Even if there's a conclusion, it's tepid and tries valiantly to soften the blow to the law-breaker.

Ole Bill has been quietly of late did  he arrive home to find his bags packed on the doorstep. I guess a man of his statue would not bunk down at the YMCA

Looks like he wants to take time to harass his family.

Rumor is James Murdoch wants him gone.

Bill O’Reilly Will Take Vacation in Midst of Sexual-Harassment Controversy

Bill O’Reilly’s Fox News Channel presence in recent days has sparked social-media outrage and advertiser defections. If he goes off the air for a while, will calm return?

The popular Fox News Channel host raised that very question when he told viewers during the last few minutes of his “O’Reilly Factor” broadcast on Tuesday night that he would take a few days off as part of a pre-planned vacation even as controversy swirled around him.  He explained that he often takes vacation around the start of spring. “We all need R&R. Put it to good use,” he told viewers.  He is expected to return to the air April 24.

Makes sense. I wonder what the technical difficulties could be. Even a man of his stature can be taken behind the woodshed.

High tech wood sheds are prone to technical issues perhaps.

Ratings are still good but revenue from advertisers is way down as ad minutes per ep. dip, and only so many diaper/cath/cialis/carpeting ads can be sold. Even Angie's List finally bailed.

There are rumors of grand juries investigating the pay-offs as criminal activity, that many, many, many more women will be coming forward, audio tapes (evidently Mr. O'Reilly liked to fap on the phone).

He's probably fork-tender.

O Reilly is the big cheese on Fox, most others are non entities in comparison, and probably aren't worth anywhere near as much in the gold digger stakes.

Hannity is also pretty big,  but may have better precautions against wrongful accusations.

If one actually watched Fox news one would have known that.

No, you don't have to watch fox at all to know who gets the biggest ratings there. Ratings are news..  And it really doesn't explain why O'Reilly forked out 9 million dollars to one complainant. And it really doesn't explain why other figures at fox don't get sued for this sort of thing.  There would still be plenty of money to be made from Fox's deep pockets. Or anchors elsewhere.  I can remember when Roger Ailes was being defended in a similar way. Does any rational person doubt now that he is a lowlife?

OReilly is number 1 in cable generating 400 million a year. He'll be back.

CNN would hire him in a New York minute.

As for sexual harassment, what exactly is it?  Seems the girls get paid pretty well, whatever is it. But you know what that makes them!

He was generating 400 million per year. Not any longer.

It looks like he's done at Fox.

He and Fox are negotiating an exit package. One assumes any package would restrict his follow-on employment.

You sound like a loyal O'Reilly stooge.  And no, CNN would not hire him.  You think CNN wants to deal with all this sexual harassment craziness?  Not only will it outrage their audience and advertisers, but female employees at CNN would be horrified having to work with this serial sexual predator.

They have to prove it in a court of law. The reputation of a on air personality who brings in that kind of revenue is surely worth more than the cost of going to court. To pay off a number of women with $15m is an assumption of guilt. That is why he is about to be booted off air. You argument is of course totally baseless.

He should have come to Thailand and save the millions.

Maybe true, but just one problem, he probably doesn't know where Asia is, let alone understanding that Taiwan and Thailand are part of Asia and are different countries.
