The remark was made at a meeting with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) led by Watcharapol Prasan Rajchakit on Thursday as the commission visited the Privy Council president’s house to pay respects on the occasion of Songkran. Prem encouraged the NACC to keep up its work, which he described as both difficult and risky. He said he wanted everyone to be aware of and lend a hand to prevent corruption. rkidlad Posted April 14, 2017 Share Posted April 14, 2017 Okay, where's the hotline? Where are the adverts on Tv actively encouraging people to report corruption like you see in Hong Kong. Thailand is rife with corruption. It's the business model here. I think it would be better educating children at school about how detrimental corruption is in society. How corrupt officials are the scum of the earth who take away from the poor so they can have even more. Could even make comparisons to people who steal because they are poor at least have a reason to steal. Corruption here or in any society is a cancer. People who partake in it are criminals of the highest order. People always ask me why I don't get offended easily. It's because I get offended by stuff that's real. Stuff like corruption offends me immensely yet doesn't seem to bother most people. They seem to get offended by dumb tourists with their feet on headrests or criticism of something they 'personally and sanctimoniously' worship in the hope of becoming richer or more popular. seajae Posted April 14, 2017 Share Posted April 14, 2017 there are govt departments that get monthly "bonuses" from companies that are registered/legal and doing business by the book but are threatened with delays, harassment if they refuse. Very hard when it is actual govt agencies(high up officials in some cases) doing the threatening and when it could cause the company to collapse or have finacial problems if they do lodge any complaints or dont pay. The fact that these govt officials can get away with this is indicative of much of what is wrong here, there are no checks and balances inside the govt departments as graft/corruption is too deeply embedded, if they actually did something about them all, the departments would collapse. If only he was so revered and untouchable he need not fear saying what he knows; at the centre of things for so long he would know where the corruption happens and who it benefits. If such a person could start the ball rolling with a few names instead of yearly calls for others to work to end corruption he could leave his beloved Thailand a better place. If only... sandemara Posted April 17, 2017 Share Posted April 17, 2017 A senior Pakistani Govt Minister last week declared that female victims of rape would have a happy life if they married the man who raped them rather than make an official complaint. Does anyone else see some sort of convergence of strange social or philosophical values in these otherwise unrelated news stories? Both items disturbed me.
