Police are checking security cameras for clues as to the identity of the driver of a taxi used by a Chinese man last Tuesday night before his body was found in a Bangkok canal on the following morning.

Investigators of Wang Thongl Lang Police Station are now screening security cameras feeds filming along the route that the taxi might have used to try to find a clue as to what happened to Li Xuejun, 49, his sister Li Mei Lan said on Monday.

Li’s body was found floating on Lard Prao Canal behind the Regent International School in Bangkok’s Wang Thong Lang district. Only a Samsung phone and Bt35 in cash were found on him. His wallet had disappeared.

His sister said on Monday that not only the wallet but a black handbag containing cash and his passport were also missing.

Li said her brother had dinner with friends at a Chinese restaurant on Lard Prao Soi 101 before he took a pink taxi back to his J-Loft Condominium on Soi Laotian Embassy off Pracha-uthit Road in Wang Thong Lang district at 10pm last Tuesday.

His body was found on Wednesday morning with no visible sings of injuries. An autopsy showed that he had died of suffocation.

The sister said if police located the taxi driver, the truth would be known what had happened to Li.

She said Li had been staying in Thailand for a month to negotiate regarding a rubber plantation business.

The 'cream of the crop' are back on the roads again.

I am guessing the negotiations went very badly, especially for the Chinese man who died.

If it materializes another terrible hit for the taxi guild.

An honest taxi driver will find the money missing and retun it. Maybe next week

Makes one wonder if the missing bag contained all cash for the rubber plantation transaction?? Did he flash the cash?? Something happened I doubt if he opted himself with a large plastic bag.

RIP, a suicide will be the verdict
