Awesome Nanny Required - Bang Por

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

We live in Bang Por just off the ring road and are keen on a nanny 2-3 days per week long term.  Any ideas on where to start looking or any recommendations would be immensely appreciated.

I've looked on a few websites but they are more geared towards holiday makers and we are well past that period now ;-)  Their phone numbers often don't work and they haven't replied to emails.

Is it best to go through an agency?  Or word of mouth? Are there any places where people might physically post a notice advertising their services?  I'm looking for any brainstorm ideas here to get this moving forward.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help!

Snitz.

I would start by asking some of the local farangs restaurant owners, (White Pearl, The Swiss Restaurant etc) they have kids, and may know of  sitters... ? Not sure if you can put a Help wanted ad out side the 7-11...very busy there!

I know the Russians have a network of people who do it... the one I know, has just gone back to Russia for a few months...

Thanks for all your replies.

@Longtom at this stage we are looking for Wednesday and Saturday full 8 hour day starting at 8am or 9am through to finish.  This won't decrease and will likely increase the days as time goes on.  Age we don't really mind and qualifications I'm unsure of.  I think if we gel with the nanny and the kids do then a lot of that stuff is not so important.  Salary is another good question (see below)...Please PM me the details if you can!

Thanks @khunPer.  I will follow this up.

We asked a few people we knew of but they didn't have kids.  Notice boards and other stuff is a great idea too!

Another question too!  What do you think we can expect to pay a nanny?  Before we relocated we had a nanny for a week when we were visiting on holiday and we paid 300baht per hour.  We have two kids and that seemed to be the casual going rate through an agency.  She could speak English (enough for us to get by).  What about for a more permanent part time engagement?  Or even full time?  Speaking a bit of English is pretty important for us particularly if the nanny is going to be with us for quite some time...
