My taughts about Thailand

Recommended Posts

Ladies and gentlemens, I am very happy about being on this forum and be able to share my taughts with you. I use to live in Thailand for a few years and now back in my home country. I had a great time in Thailand with locals and other foreigners living a dream life. However, as you all know, a dream isn't permanent and I had to go back home to be closer to my family and friends. This said, I feel like sharing and discussing about Thailand.

Before I start, I would like to make sure this post remains clean and civilized. We are discussing and sharing experiences, not pointing the finger to someone directly.

-Street food is simply delicious and I could have ate this everyday. One time, I got sick eating bad eggs. I learned that when a street vendor has no customer, I should not be the first one going there. People are not going there for a reason.

-Some people say that there are 2 different culture in Thailand. The party culture (Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket) and the Thai culture. This is partly true. The party culture is the real Thai culture. Those who pretend it is different outside of those areas are wrong. They just hide their real nature better while people from Pattaya, Phuket and Bangkok are more genuine.

-Thai people are clever and courageous. They need that to use the road everyday

-Thai ladies are mistaken when it comes to foreigners in Thailand. Especially when it comes to young foreigners, they are not all rich as they are expecting. On the opposite, most of them does not have a dollar. They go there to enjoy the sun, the food and the ladies. Do not expect them to take you in their home country, they barely have money to pay for their plane ticket to get back home.

-A large majority of the foreigners feel a power trip over there.

-The english teacher is not qualified to be a teacher in his home country

-Foreigners in Thailand are genuine when they are drunk, not while they are sober.

-We like the way you party

-We do not want you to change

-We prefer the raining season to a snowy day.

Please, feel free to add some content and/or discuss about it. Just remember to keep it clean!

The requirements for TEFL are no different in most people's home countries - a decent TEFL certificate, some experience and usually a degree. Although Thailand will often not care about the experience if your face fits!

Most non TEFL teaching jobs in International schools or universities, also require similar qualifications to other countries.

So you got sick once from street food, well I get sick every time I eat from street food so I stopped for good. Thais are among the worst chefs on the planet because all of them think they can cook!

used to eat a lot of street food and often got crook, always thought it was due to possible  bad food/cleanliness of the cook but found out it was actually an msg problem, I was allergic to it and seeing most thai cooks load heaps into whatever they cook it was continually effecting me. These days I rarely eat street food and instead order in restaurants and make sure no msg is used, great to no longer suffer from it, in Australia msg is not allowed in the food so never knew till I ate here. Have to wonder how many others suffer from the same thing but are unaware of it.
