PHUKET: -- Three men were arrested for impersonating police officers and trying to extort money from two teenagers in Phuket yesterday.

The arrests were made by a joint task force of Region 8 and Cherng Talay Police officers at a PTT gas station in Cherng Talay.

The suspects, Thongchai Katthong, 30; Ittipol Kranara, 32; and Pathompong Rattanasuvan, 51; had Civil Defense and veteran ID cards in their possession.

“The three men presented themselves as Region 8 Police officers and arrested two underage teens for drinking krathom (an illicit drug) in Soi Palai, Chalong,” said Lt Col Kraisorn Chumchuen of Region 8.

“They handcuffed the two and took them to a room in Wichit, which they claimed was a safe house, for questioning,” he added.

Hard to tell which is real and the fake. I suppose the fake were obvious as they werent sitting down and at least arrested someone.

Seems like they were caught when they tried to enforce the law !!
Stood out like sore thumbs !!

Only three- I've seen a heck of a lot more!

Well they will try it again until they get it right...

I hope these reports are ignored. This is a free thinking forum with freedom of speech. If people are scared to voice their opinions due to the fear of 'fanatics' threatening to report them at the drop of a hat, we will quickly be moving towards a 'Nazi' forum where it will be similar to the police state that the country is already under. I say to the poster who would be quick to report posts. That he/she should lighten up, and allow people a certain amount of levity, for which most posters are known. We have some posters here with, quick and extremely humorous minds.Thats why we come here. To have a good time without too much criticism. The moderators, whom over see this forum, and others, tend to have pretty good senses of humour and allow us a lot of latitude, until it becomes too much. With people like you around who want to report every humorous comment, i think that you could have a row, in an empty house.

Actually the fake police were in fact more real in their "extortion, and impersonating of police officers" than the official ones.
