A Bentley belonging to a shareholder of Lenso Corporations, a luxury car dealership, burst into flames in the parking lot of Lumpini Park last night.

The car owner, Jennit Weeraporn, 36, said she was driving out of the lot after working out when smoke began pouring from the car’s engine.

She quickly found a place to park, before the car caught fire, which quickly spread to the BMW next to it. Jannit got out of the car without injury.

Wow...

So many conspiracy possibilities given her brother's court case AND dodgy luxury cars just this week alone.

This could get interesting when they check the VIN, and when they look for incendiaries under the hood.

But we'll never hear anything...

But those victims were just normal folk.

I'd be more inclined to suspect someone who just got a 20 million baht tax bill because the car they bought from her had bogus import papers.  As I recall, 73 of the owners hadn't responded yet to their summons... (Edit:  not all her customers- in fact, perhaps none of them hers, but it's a conspiracy thing)

And yes, I am taking the piss.  I don't really have a clue- much less a suspect, but nobody got hurt so this seemed like a fun thread to go off the rails on.

....ok off the rails..bring back that guy who was taking the expensive car dealers to lunch and dinner and then skipping out to the bathroom and on to the street.

Sorry not familiar with your Brit expression? Similar to down the drain...

Let's see if another family member has a car issue...more spice...58ed7b341f4e7_MexicanBurger.jpg.7229acd43fb666019c3cb8fbbc64e50d.jpg

All these conspiracy theories ...tsk tsk.

Just a leaky LPG engine...

A Bentley LPG conversion?  That would be a new one on me.   Maybe an electric Bentley conversion...

I wonder what Bentley thinks about one of their vehicles suddenly bursting into flames, one owned by a dealer no less.

If there is no sudden arrival of Bentley staff to inspect the vehicle, I would be looking at external factors rather than vehicle failure.

Ferraris and Lambos too, apparently LPG converted cars attract much lower tax. There was a story a while back of a bunch going up in smoke on a transporter.

Taxes.  That makes sense.  (Well, not really, but TIT).   I thought they did it to save on fuel...

I'd imagine that the LPG system could be deactivated for 364 days a year for performance and re-activated on the day it's due for registration/inspection- and still save millions on the total cost of ownership.  Probably even easier and cheaper to slip the inspection guy a bottle of Jack Daniels to look the other way.

Yep, cheap charlie LPG conversion from Somchai's garage... Just another rolling tribute to poor workmanship.

Gotta say, I'm often impressed by the local ability to keep cars and trucks and scooters on the road for decades after they'd have been binned back home because of the cost of parts and labor.

BMW's with Toyota engines, stainless steel pickup beds, LPG to save on fuel, and on and on.

Sure, there's some shoddy examples (and, every once in a while, a Bentley spontaneously bursts into flame), but there's lots of creativity and bootstrap engineering, too.

A mate is putting a Toyota lump in a Maserati, the original Italian engineering proved just too unreliable (and expensive to fix).

How does that go when he takes it in to get the registration renewed?  I've heard horror stories about the engine S/N not being right on the paperwork and all kinds of problems renewing.

Or is that barstool banter/bashing?

There are certainly issues renewing the tax etc. if the numbers don't match up.

There is of course a process for changing the engine number, I understand it involves ensuring the new lump has had all the taxes paid etc.

Not sure if it actually involves changing the engine manufacturer. I'll ask him once it's complete and I've had a ride in it.

One Ferrari model, maybe the 458, was infamous for going up inflames a few years ago. The fault was the glue used in the wheel arches I think.

Same goes for the first generation of Lamborghini Aventador. They had a gas leak on the engine. Some videos on youtube where some kids in Dubai rev the engine and the car goes up in smoke.

Maserati with a Toyota engine? That must be one hilarious sounding Maserati.
