A tour bus carrying 20 Chinese tourists slammed into an 18 wheel truck trailer on its way to Pattaya yesterday afternoon.

Foundation staff from Sawang Boriboon had to use cutting equipment for twenty minutes to free the passengers after the front door was crushed in the smash.

Driver Surachai Hiranphunsin, 59, said the passengers on his bus were terrified after he ploughed into the back of the Hino truck that he said braked suddenly.

Another tour bus then went into the back of him making it impossible for the tourists to get out, reported TNews.

The tour bus had a sticker on the side indicating it belonged to "New Long Tai Group".

A video showed the startled passengers being lead from the wreckage after the accident on Route 36 heading from Rayong into Pattaya.

There were no reports of injuries in the story.

No,What the buses need here are drivers that don't Speed,Stay awake during the trip, don't take drugs, doesn't text on cell phone, and have the proper license. But then again even two out of these three request would be hard to find here in LOS.

And apparently they all walked away without a scratch. I doubt that would be so if they had been in minivans or bahtbuses or cars.

Luckily, all wearing the newly installed seat belts..........

Presently driving by taxi, misc. private drivers, to BKK and back every other day. Terrifying, almost every single one tailgates at often less than 10/15 meters distance at speeds up to 140km/h. These people belong locked up. Combined with their total ignorance, arrogance, dumbness, disrespect, often overtired or on drugs or alcohol, the next horrific accident is just around the corner. Yesterday, close to Pattaya a car in front, cut 3 lanes across and the car in front of ours only avoided crashing by pulling off to the side. 3 min. later the moron was not 15 meters from the tail of the car in our front. Speech- and hopeless. MS>

Driving here is a nightmare at the best of times, but now and again you do meet a good driver, but the is usually when you do the border run and visit Cambodia or Laos.

Nutters with 4 wheels describes most people who drive here

A large aspect this equation is the utter lack of law enforcement, when it comes to traffic safety. The toy police are nowhere to be seen. They seem to have this rather horrific combination of incompetence and indifference when it comes to road deaths, and the possible prevention of such. When will they wake up and do something about this?

That combined with an alarming lack of situational awareness, forethought, wisdom, respect, and caution.
