Best mobile company to not sell phone number?

Featured Replies

I've been getting phone spam 2 times a day, especially from Muang Thai Life Insurance that won't stop calling and keeps calling from different phone numbers.

Does anyone know which phone company provider won't sell your phone number to third parties?

I'm using True currently.

Very common in Thailand. Just hangup the phone. I doubt changing provider helps because your number is already in their database

Unfortunately its part of having a phone these days (in any country).

My parents get a lot of 'cold marketing calls' on their landline in the UK.

Here, in Thailand I get 2 or 3 such calls a week, usually they go straight into a 'recorded spiel' I just hang up straight away.

I'm not sure what can be done about it other than calling up your service provider and complaining asking them to block any numbers known to be from this repeated 'cold caller'

I've had issues in the past when roaming after receiving numerous Multimedia Messages from a news agency I'd never signed up for. The receipt of these messages was going to cost me about 6000 baht. AIS were pretty good about accepting responsibility after I refused to pay.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I think I'll go with True since last time I signed up for Internet with AIS, they called me constantly to sell me their phone service. And DTAC has poor coverage.

I also bought a 2nd phone number for an extra Android phone since Android is capable of whitelisting calls and forwarding SMSes, which my iPhone cannot do. I'll give the current phone number to businesses while never picking those up and the new number I won't give out at all except to a handful of friends. Other personal contacts can call me on Line/WhatsApp.

Actually I'm going to switch from True now to AIS.

Interestingly, when I switched phones, I found out some SMS service had me sending me SMS'es everyday to True and charging me for them. I blocked the number, but apparently I still got charged for over a year! I called the company up, Wireless Information Technology, also known as Thaiza.com, and they just flat out lied. Said I clicked on some "sexy girl' video which allowed them to charge me instantly. I *never* clicked on any video, just the SMS to see who the sell what sending me that spam. So now I'm going to switch to AIS. The company told me they paid True to send the SMS'es out, and that's how they got my phone number.
