Been living in KK 2 months now and I like it a lot. I lived in bkk for just over a year and then kalasin for just over 18 months.

The street market in city I like to chill round there on a cool evening and grab some ice cream.

The thon tan market is ok but I don't think it's a family environment. Lot of drinking going on in food Hall type place. Feels like it should be isolated a bit. Pricing on some stuff in there is also just silly. 32gb Kingston Sd card 650 baht versus 199 baht in another shop not in that market.

The plaza is pretty good but mens clothes is very low choice options. 3 weeks in a row I've said to my Mrs it's my time to buy clothes but I never find anything so she buys something instead.

Not found an actual Indian restaurant to date. I found info on one called Mr Khan's but says it's permanently closed online. Bit disappointed not found one of these yet.

Food wise I've enjoyed food just by ban kok rd. Nice little pizza joint and 3-4 doors up is a decent restaurant offering steaks with a tasty sauce

Down by the water on Sri chan rd is a good park that my Mrs wants to do the aerobics classes. Need to find out days/times.

The market round there is ok and there's a tasty kebab street vendor opposite 711 that's consistently good.

Not found the variety of foods we like but I'm sure we will.

Vietnamese food - any ideas?

The ha Dow vendor near us is great.

Not found a beef food specialist yet or some good noodles or yam Naem.

In time I hope.

Hi there. We live in KK centre. As regards drinking water we have a filter which is a high quality one and we also buy small bottles of water from Makro for teeth cleaning.
Beds and furniture are found everywhere at all budgets.
Bacon is brilliant from Tops and it’s worth keeping an eye out for their sales for cheeses and meats too. Tesco has lots of Farang foods and again their sales are worth keeping an eye out for. Farang food doesn’t sell so well so is generously discounted.
In the centre of KK we have 3BB and it’s fast and reliable too.
We joined the Facebook page Ex Pats in Khon Kaen and it’s a good source of info if you’re looking for something particular.
Enjoy it here - it’s a great place to live if you give as much as you take.

If you're talking about Bung Kaen Nakhon, the lake South of Sri Chan Road, there are several aerobics place around the lake every day about 6PM.

Why didn't you find this out before deciding to move there

i suggest you live for a few weeks so you know what you are letting yourself in for

or are you just ? in love ???

I think I can see what you're getting at Tosser but even before moving to live for a few weeks it's good to get as much info as possible.

I'm planning to move to Khon Kaen very soon and although it will be on a trial basis initially, that may be extended indefinitely.

I've visited KK a couple of times but lived in Phuket which is very different.

All info greatly appreciated.

Got any tips for us?

Does it make a difference is one is in love?

The air quality in Khon Kaen is some of the worst in Thailand. If you suffer from any repository problems. I highly recommend you choose another place.

I suffer from asthma and wish right now I was anyplace else but here. Today the air quality index is worst than any other place in Thailand. That includes both Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Makro has a reasonable bacon from America in the frozen section near where the cheese and the cream is, there is a good variety of cheese available but you will have to check them out, I bought Mainland from New Zealand at Makro and Big C has Bega cheese from Australia plus some of the other cheeses. Makro has an international section where you can get things like beetroot, baked beans, malt vinegar, plus other products. Billie at Khon Kaen Food Supply sells a few different products including Sweet Mustard Pickles (Picallili) that is made by an Australian living in Khon Kaen

Where exactly are you located in Khon Kaen?  I too have seen the mesurements and wonder where they are getting these readings from.  Is it a widespread issue or in a certain area?  Is it farmers burning or from factories?

I live on the southern end of ring road. Khon Kaen has been listed as one of the city's with the worst air quality in Thailand for the past few years. Not sure where most of the pollution is coming from.

Thanks - if I too move there I might try further south or the north side.  I believe that the monitoring station is near the main highway intersection (diesel trucks) and is close to a lot of the factories, and that is why the readings are so high. But that could be wrong.

In all fairness, I don't live here year round. I come here for a few months on business every year.  This year seems to be worst for me. Not sure why.
