PM reiterates need for Chinese armoured vehicles

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha today reiterated the cabinet’s approval of the Army’s urgent need for the Chinese armoured vehicles saying the vehicles are cost effective, capable and appropriate for the country.

He was commenting to ongoing criticism of the cabinet’s spedy approval of the 2.3 billion baht purchase of the VN-1 rubber-wheel armoured vehicles.

Gen Prayut said the security authorities and the military junta have assessed the vehicle’s performance and price and come out with a final decision that it is cost effective and the price is very competitive.

Why the urgency  is there a threat of war or public disturbance ? it would have to be war would't it ?

Will need them in time for the election

When your personnel carriers are four or five decades old, replacing them is rational.  We all know these will probably only be used to intimidate rather than protect the average Thai.

preparation for democracy !

Old buck-banana likes spending money on chinese junk, small change compared to wasted baht on the submarine deal .

How many armoured vehicles you need buy before get a free one ? lol

Couldn't trust these clowns buy tin of sardines at tesco lotus ...

it's also environment friendly and comes in a variety of peaceful and serene color schemes, however, some decals showing twerking teenies have been disallowed.

I wonder what kind of "commissions" are involved in the purchase of armoured vehicles and submarines?

Could this mean that democratic elections are around the corner? Just asking .........

Were the soldiers that were sent to Lumyai to cover her up too embarrassed for not showing up with a fancy (new) toy?

So glad this country's economy is doing well so they can be afforded with pocket change.

elections are just (another) year away. they might come in handy when the reds find out ying luck is not allowed to run in them.

Every one wants a new car in the garage when they get the new job. But Chinese?

The colour scheme will have to blend into that of Thai houses?

Chinese would make you the cheapest products so corrupt politicians could gain easy money.:post-4641-1156693976:

oh i don't know i am sure that they could buy sardines from Tesco Lotus providing a member of staff went with them

Can't drive a submarine on land to suppress a revolt who is opposed to intervention on peoples daily lives. One needs to know the people, not delegate saying its in your best interest and be quiet. Lumyai and street carts are a perfect example of last but new consistent out of touch failures. Of course no one will make a statue in his name. why waste the material. Barks too much and out of touch!

So have some newly painted decals of "Chailand"  on the side of the carriers been obliterated by the Thailand military as they were regarded as being a few years premature.

Yes I also believe that they will be needed during the next uprising against the ruling elite.

The west won't deal with the Thai Government as they have not been elected and are run by the military. Main reason for getting into bed with China and Russia. What is unproven is reliability.  Again this could end in tears.
