Partially paralysed ex-nurse dies in house fire in Ayutthaya
By The Nation

AYUTTHAYA: -- A partially paralysed former nurse died in a fire at her home in Ayutthaya early Thursday.

The fire broke out in a two-storey house in Moo 3 village in Tambon Phachi of Ayutthya’s Phachi district at about half an hour after midnight, Pol Col Krit Chansawang, commander of Phachi police station, said.

The victim was identified as Kanda Ju-ampha, a former nurse at Vajira Hospital in Bangkok, who lived alone, he said.

Local residents tried to douse the flames in the bedroom of the house with buckets of water.

The woman was found unconscious in the middle of the bedroom, however she died shortly after being rescued from the house by local residents.

It took firefighters about half an hour to extinguish the blaze.

Police suspected the blaze was caused by an electrical short circuit.

Tragic so very tragic, being partially paralysed, and unable to get out.

Such a terrible way to go.

Fire is something that now terrifies me, as being paraplegic, unable to get of my bed without help.

It is something i try to get my wife to understand, i see her do things that are not safe, and i nagg her to stop and think safety.
