Retired military officer dies in apparent suicide fall from apartment

BANGKOK: -- A retired military officer died in a fall from the 26th floor of a Bangkok apartment building on Thursday night in what is believed to be a suicide.

 

Police said Maj Gen Phothipat Thiradamrong, 69, a former officer of the Judge Advocate General’s Department, was found dead on the ground outside the 29-storey apartment building near Phayathai Intersection at about 11.30pm.

 

An official of the building said he heard a loud noise and when he went to check he found the body.

 

Phothipat had been staying with his sister in a room on the 26th floor for a month. Police found a window in his room had been left open and said there was no sign of foul play.
