PHUKET: -- An Australian woman has been hailed a hero after potentially saving a Chinese woman from drowning at Phuket Beach on Monday.

The tourist’s action was revealed by Thanawut Vinitpairoj, a freelance photographer who posted the story on his Facebook wall late Monday night.

Thanawut said he was hired by the unnamed tourist to take photos of her and her female partner on the beach at around 7.30pm on Monday.

While taking the photos, the tourist spotted a Chinese couple get hit by a big wave while on a surfboard, Thanawut said.

He said the woman took off her pants and ran into the water and dragged the Chinese woman ashore. The man returned to shore unaided.

He said the tourist then went to her car and changed into new clothes to continue the photo session as if nothing had happened.

But Facebook users applauded her action.

i think that is her female partner

How is it possible to "have potentially saved" someone? It's either you saved that someone or you didn't.
