AYUTTHAYA: -- The abbot of Wat Phanunchoeng in Ayutthaya today denied having any involvement in the misappropriation of the 13 million baht state subsidy after it is among 12 temples that received the funds and is being questioned by Counter Corruption Division police.

In defending his innocence, the abbot was ready to cooperate with the police to probe into the scandal, said Mr Somsak Thoraksa, the lawyer of the temple.

According to the abbot’s disclosure, Mr Somsak said the temple did not request any subsidy from the Office of the National Buddhism.

Thailand the hub of misappropriation.

In this particular case they should also be probing the Office of the National Buddhism.

If this is true then it is very strange if someone provided funds that were not requested and then those funds mysteriously disappeared. Shouldn't be too hard to find out the truth. Just follow the money trail.

The caption of this part is misleading, as it is the abbot (as an individual person) denying any involvement, but I didn't see a denial about the temple (an organisation) he leads, possibly(!), 'misappropriating state subsidy', quite a difference IMO...

I'm sure the CCD have bigger fish to fry. The authorities seem to be going after anything that ordinary Thai's relate to

Well they are not going to admit it! Make them prove their innocence.

Mr Somsak saidthet didnt request any subsidy.

So because they didnt request any subsidy, it is ok to misappropriate it., laughable absolutely laughable.:cheesy:
