Royal Thai Army tries to calm Chanthaburi fishermen’s anxiety over new law on navigation

BANGKOK, 5th July 2017 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Army has tried to calm anxiety among fishermen in eastern Chanthaburi Province, who are opposing the enforcement of a new version of the law on navigation in Thai waters.

On Tuesday, Maj. Gen. Hathaithep Kirati-angkoon, chief of the 19th Army Circle, met with fishery operators and representatives of fishermen in Laem Sing District of Chanthaburi Province to discuss issues related to foreign workers and the amended Act on Navigation in Thai Waters, after they earlier submitted a petition that asked the Prime Minister to postpone the enforcement of the law indefinitely.

Maj. Gen. Hathaithep said that the government decided to delay the enforcement of the amended law by two months in order to allow related business operators, who have built structures in public waterways to report themselves to the authorities and to have more time to register their foreign workers.

Meanwhile, the Nakhon Ratchasima Employment Office has been busy with the registration of foreign workers, who had earlier left their former employers but had not yet reported the change to the authorities.

In Samut Sakhon Province, employers and foreign workers have continued visiting the Provincial Employment Office to register their employment documents as well.

Interesting when all these delays / postponements come to fruition I have a feeling the indians are getting restless !

Big question here........... Do Thai's (especially Army) like to eat 'seafood'???????????????

to report themselves to the authorities

positive that will work well; thoughtless lawmakers and , incredibly, even more thoughtless 'enforcers' in a place that is remarkably law unenforced
