BURI RAM: -- A driver and four Cambodian passengers were injured on Wednesday when the pickup they were travelling in collided with a 18-wheel truck in Buri Ram on Wednesday morning.

Police said the accident happened at 8.30am on the None Dindaeng-Pa Phraya road in Tambon Lam Nang Rong in None Dindaeng district.

Police said the unidentified driver of the pickup, a Cambodian man, two Cambodian women and a Cambodian girl were injured.

They were taken to None Dindaeng hospital before the Cambodian man, who was severely injured, was transferred to the Buri Ram provincial hospital.

The remaining Cambodians told police that they chartered the pickup to go to the Aranyaprathet border checkpoint in Sa Kaew to return home to get passports and documents to work in Thailand.

They said the pickup lost control and slammed into the rear of a 18-wheel truck.

The pickup driver fled the scene after the accident.

I hope the Cambodians recover and that the cops nab the driver who fled the scene. Amazing that the passenger in front seat wasn't killed. Seatbelts?

Well at least they did not have to bother with opening the door anymore
