tomacht8
THAI has reached an initial agreement with Airbus to exchange necessary information and jointly evaluate the potential development of a TG MRO Complex Development at U-Tapao. They have an Agreement to exchange information, and to check if u-Tapao is at all a possible location. Not more. Until 2021 there is still much to be done. Visa and work permits for all foreign specialists, Import tax percentages for aircraft spare parts, Shareholder rights and voting rights. I guess airbus will not contribute for a 49% share the whole know how. Edited July 7, 2017 by tomacht8

Ivor Edwards
Well, I guess this is what happens when unbridled ambition and self-esteem exceed the capacity for embarrassment and objectivity. It's a sad story of delusion and fantasy. Just one example, there are lots of others eg Thai being the new English, all those hubs, medical tourism etc etc.

mrboatbkk
It is not a matter of unbridled ambition and self esteem exceeding capacity but it is a matter of strong ambition and determination to achieve what is aimed. With strong leadership and good management as well as joint cooperation with Airbus it is possible for Thai to go for world modern MRO center. Be encouraged and determined to achieve the goal and don't be distracted by stupid people's jealousy. Stay away from these negative people they themselves never achieve anything.Sent from my VIE-L29 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Many major western nation airlines have suffered at least once a crash with execeptions, as anywhere. The point here is that a crash misfortune can hit any airline, anyplace, anytime....[god bless it never to occur!] If Thai costed the same as Emirates i still would fly Emirates. Europe to BKK for 200$ ....well i wouldn't even think about it unless they also fly new A380 and have a stopover. Emirates let's me bring 40kg so they are still better even if Thai had the same price. Reading all this about the worlds no1 mro makes laugh about Thai...we all know the standards of Thai technicians so of course they will be the new hub for technicians. Srikcir
13 hours ago, mrboatbkk said: joint cooperation with Airbus it is possible for Thai to go for world modern MRO center. TAI's claim goes far beyond predicting it will have a world modern MRO Center: "Thai Airways International Plc. (THAI) is set to unveil the world's No. 1 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Center by the year 2021." Look at the current top 20 MRO Centers that includes those operated by Airbus and I'd say it's not possible that TAI will have the world's No. 1 MRO Center by 2021. That's not just being negative. On another note I don't doubt that with Airbus providing the equipment and technology that Thailand can't buy its way to a modern MRO Center. But with a modicum of an educated, skilled population such achievement could probably be reached many other countries currently without an MRO Center. What might be special about TAI is being more close to the geographical epicenter of SE Asia and state financed. Although there might be some redundancy with MRO's in South Korea, Australia and Japan (commence operations at Okinawa Airport in the second half of FY2017).
