THAI aims to be world's No 1 MRO center

webfact

THAI has reached an initial agreement with Airbus to exchange necessary information and jointly evaluate the potential development of a TG MRO Complex Development at U-Tapao.

They have an Agreement to exchange information, and to check if u-Tapao is at all a possible location. Not more.

Until 2021 there is still much to be done. Visa and work permits for all foreign specialists, Import tax percentages for aircraft spare parts, Shareholder rights and voting rights. I guess airbus will not contribute for a 49% share the whole know how.

But their C919 has only just had its maiden-flight, and anyway relies heavily on foreign-parts  ...  " Several of the plane’s key components are imported – the C919 features German landing gear, Franco-American engines and an Austrian interior".

Well, I guess this is what happens when unbridled ambition and self-esteem exceed the capacity for embarrassment and objectivity. It's a sad story of delusion and fantasy.

Just one example, there are lots of others eg Thai being the new English, all those hubs, medical tourism etc etc.

It is not a matter of unbridled ambition and self esteem exceeding capacity but it is a matter of strong ambition and determination to achieve what is aimed. With strong leadership and good management as well as joint cooperation with Airbus it is possible for Thai to go for world modern MRO center.
Be encouraged and determined to achieve the goal and don't be distracted by stupid people's jealousy. Stay away from these negative people they themselves never achieve anything.

Thailand has Thai Airways... Manila has Lufthansa Technics.

Manila has Phillipines airlines who sacked ALL their pilots when was flying with them. Those rude pilots had asked for more wages before the big boss decided to sack them ALL on the spot.

That caused my trip a lot of trouble but finally they paid me a ticket back home...they didn't pay the Sydney hotel i had to stay in for a week.

if Thai Airways was to cut ticket costs,  let's imagine by half ,in compared to other middle Eastern Airlines....say something like BKK to Europe or UK for around $ 400,-- incl. 30 kgs baggage allowance...

I would bet a ST with the lady of your choice,:guitar: that customers will flock, including those who criticize the airline all over...all the red flag, blue flag, no flag or whatever issues,  will be far ignored and forgotten!!...:cheesy:

Many major western nation airlines have suffered at least once a crash with execeptions, as anywhere. The point here is that a crash misfortune can hit any airline, anyplace, anytime....[god bless it never to occur!]

If Thai costed the same as Emirates i still would fly Emirates.  They give better and more food, speak real english, are not arrogant and do it all perfect.

Thailand makes almost weekly claims of achieving world's number one status in various areas, but so far I think have achieved only one:

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/thailand-named-most-adulterous-country-world-1488513

Most Adulterous countries top ten:

1. Thailand- 56%

2. Denmark -46%

3. Germany- 45%

4. Italy-45%

5. France- 43%

6. Belgium- 40%

7. Norway-40%

8. Spain-39%

9. Finland-36%

10. United Kingdom-36%

I agree as Emirates is till now, my favorite airline. But assuming on could find a ticket from their homelands to Bkk say for US$ 200,-- round trip with Thai, I am sure that many would take the cost factor into account..

Europe to BKK for 200$ ....well i wouldn't even think about it unless they also fly new A380 and have a stopover.

Emirates let's me bring 40kg so they are still better even if Thai had the same price.

Reading all this about the worlds no1 mro makes laugh about Thai...we all know the standards of Thai technicians so of course they will be the new hub for technicians.:clap2:

Not hard to be number one, when all you have to do is stick a round object in a round hole.

TAI's claim goes far beyond predicting it will have a world modern MRO Center:

"Thai Airways International Plc. (THAI) is set to unveil the world's No. 1 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Center by the year 2021."

Look at the current top 20 MRO Centers that includes those operated by Airbus and I'd say it's not possible that TAI will have the world's No. 1 MRO Center by 2021. That's not just being negative.

On another note I don't doubt that with Airbus providing the equipment and technology that Thailand can't buy its way to a modern MRO Center. But with a modicum of an educated, skilled population such achievement could probably be reached many other countries currently without an MRO Center. What might be special about TAI is being more close to the geographical epicenter of SE Asia and state financed. Although there might be some redundancy with MRO's in South Korea, Australia and Japan (commence operations at Okinawa Airport in the second half of FY2017).
