A man and his wife, who provided shelter for a suspected insurgent wanted under five arrest warrants, have been each sentenced to three months in jail, suspended for two years, according to Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 spokesman Col Pramote Prom-in.

Suedi Maham and his wife Sitipatimo Sengkajari were arrested on June 30 when a combined police and military team surrounded their house in Yala’s Raman district on being informed that Lukman Mading, 29, a suspected insurgent who was wanted under five arrest warrants on various charges including terrorism and murder attempts, was hiding there.

While the authorities were approaching the house, Lukman allegedly opened fire at them and an exchange of fire ensued.  Lukman was killed in the clash.  A gun and some ammunition were recovered from his body.

Col Pramote told a press conference today (July 8) that Suedi Maham and Sitipatimo confessed that they were united front members of a southern insurgent group.  Their duties were to collect a monthly cash contribution from other members to the group and provide shelter for insurgents who had conducted violent incidents. They said Lukman had stayed in their house twice.

Lenient ? ........more like.........absolutely absurd................Self confessed members of an insurgent group, collect money from members to kill and maim soldiers, and innocent civilians........what did they do, promise not to do it again.......I thought the British Government was stupid when dealing with these types of people, but............

3 Months Well ladies and gentlemen This is another reason people do not trust the justice system in Thailand 3 months is a joke In the west these people would have been jailed for  10 to 15 years They are aiding a terrorist

And you wonder why there is so much corruption in this country Let me count the ways
