When I  re entered last week  I wrote my address on the entry card . It's  been the same address for some time now.

Was I also  supposed to go within 24 hours and notify of address at Phuket  I O ?  Is that a TM- 30   I did stay at a hotel the night I re entered (

I drove in so really, I cannot get to Phuket to notify within 24 hours  of entry unless I drive for 10 hours straight all night  and go to  an IO immediately.  I renetered on  July 6th  Thursday,  drove and arrrived back in Phuket late Friday -  yesterday was a holiday  so am I to  go today?

is 90 day notification same as  a TM- 30 ?

I don't recall Phuket immigration expecting a TM30 every time you enter the country.

FYI the TM30 notification is 24 hours from arrival at your residence not entry to the country.

Sorry  I was not clear on the query,   I mean from arrival at residence..

I have since called the 1111 center and am told this can be dome by mail, which  this page confirms,  (but is Bangkok Imm not Phuket )

I called Phuket to confirm by mail which was an exercise in futility   " You contact office ... you bring house book "  I also have an added problem of not having that book, or even a lease  and a landlord now traveling in EU and unavailable.. The lease I can manage but the housebook.

Update- Officer at Phuket confirms, "Must do every single time reentering the country " and because the house I rent is owned  by a company, needed the shareholder list showing my landlord  AND an original company stamp- I had those docs fortunately but resisted giving up the originals, he finally accepted a copy  but probably ONLY because all papers had been notarized at original lease signing.

Fine is  1000 baht / day up to 5000 baht. This will be a nice little   earner   when an officer wants to enforce what seems to be a usually ignored  ( and unknown) rule.

The max fine for TM30 reporting for an individual is 2000 baht. For a business it is 2K to 10k baht. There is no daily fine.

I have re-entered on many occasions since my address was notified to Phuket immigration via TM30. The receipt for that notification is stapled in my passport.  When I renewed my extension earlier in the year there were no issues about address reporting.

Perhaps you misheard or misunderstood what the IO was saying?

My Imm office, which never used to require this, now does and they seem to link it to the arrival cards (TM6), for every TM6 should have a TM30 on file. So it may be that enforcement of this is spreading.

I too in the past reentered many times with no problem. It is a very recent  change just happened.

My imm office did say that I could file the reports by email. I have just done so for 2 household staff but not yet gotten email confirmation. To simplify matters I have created a pdf file of my passport, tabian ban etc  so for s=future filings iwll need only a scan of the new TM30 and new TM30, the other attachments being ready to go.

Is this requirement still not being required at the main Immigration office in Bangkok?

In the absence of any public announcement of change I will not be making any additional TM30 reports.

Maybe i will be told about any change when I next make a 90 day report --------------

I'd never even heard of this until now and I've been in BKK for 5 years on extensions.

That's because Chang Wattana is not enforcing TM-30s.  Many other offices are, and each does it differently.

Right, and when someone wants to harass you... And you've not kept the TM 30 up with re entries- you're paying a fine...

Why should "someone" want to harass anyone?

I have been dealing with Phuket immigration for years and have never been harassed , should I complain ?

I had to show the shareholder list of the company that owns the house,  with the ( foreigner) landlord's name on it,  and he wanted an original company stamp- the original copy I have is also notarized, I wasn't giving it up so he accepted  a copy.    IMO these regulations are more suited  to  sexual offender.

I was harassed coming over the border- and even felt as if I were getting set up.

This entire forum is full of threads of people feeling harassed. There's a thread  going in the Phuket forum right now about retirement extension officers harassing folks.

Thread on that experience here

Some people who can't be bothered to find out Immigrations requirements complain of harassment by an IO who cannot complete one process or another because of a lack of documents.

Surprisingly IO's call them stupid foreigners.

Take your pick!

Try not paying your last months electric or water bill, they don't harass you for the payment.........they just remove the meter.

Seems many agree, merely asking what the requirements were-  results  in conflicting info.  And I was entering on a O re-ntry permit, the 20, 000  requirment should not pertain, nor is there any limit as to how often or  for how long I can jump across the border with such a re entry permit. I was getting  harassed and being told to do something illegal

Maybe if IO and help staff  didn't pretend to be  completely fluent in English, a lot of misunderstandings could be avoided.  Maybe if what's on the lists matched what comes out of their mouths..

There is only a re-entry permit, either single or multiple entry, not a type.

If you have an extension then any O type Visa you had expired a long time ago.

Possessing a re entry for an O visa  is exactly what I meant,  certainly an accurate summation for the situation I was describing which was  getting tourist visa  rules applied to a holder of a retirement visa.   Would  pedantic  commentary  have impressed  the IO?

Sorry, we speak the same language but your confusing me with what you have in your passport.

What is a Retirement Visa?

If you have a Non Imm O multi entry Visa, then you don't need a re-entry permit.

If you have a Non Imm O single entry Visa, then you would need a re-entry permit to leave and re-enter.

The point is if you don't know or can't explain exactly what you have, then how do you expect an IO with limited English language ability to understand without seeing your passport or asking questions.......which is then considered harassment.

Where exactly did you obtain this O Visa.
