English for beginner children

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm supposed to start teaching some young Thai children the basics of English (ages 5-8), and was wondering if there were any recommended resources that you could show me. It would be great if it came with a table of contents such as:

Lesson 1: Greetings and Salutations

A
B
C
D

Lesson 2: Colors and Fruits

A

B
C
D

So on and so forth.

All I am finding now are some lesson examples from here and there, but it's hard to find a whole package. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am not sure if it suits your needs exactly, but the most useful source of free and easy to use material that I am aware of is at http://bogglesworldesl.com.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

A troll post has been removed.   I don't believe the OP requested anyone's analysis of his ability to teach.

I've "borrowed" a few ideas by browsing the Thai-English children's books in the bookstores.  Many of the presentation techniques, in the books, are what Thai children are familiar with.  And a side benefit is that it helps you pick up some basic Thai words.

Thanks rijb. I think it's ok to take those ideas and put your own spin on them. As I'm teaching for free, I would prefer to keep my costs low. Thus, "borrowing" other people's ideas wouldn't be too bad.

You should start by looking at your goals and objectives and work backwards finding material to achieve them. If you have no goals, you will be going in circles and wasting everybody's time.

Teaching Thai kids is the best way  to learn Thai.

That's actually a really good idea. It's the simple things that somehow go missed.

All of your experiences can be a huge help to me and these kids. Of course I'll learn a lot by trying, but I want to try to avoid as many mistakes as is possible. Cheers.
