Ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra attends the final court hearing Friday in her malfeasance trial. A verdict is expected in September.

BANGKOK — A lawyer for former premier Yingluck Shinawatra said Monday authorities should delay their attempt to seize her bank account assets as compensation for damages caused by her government’s signature agricultural subsidy program.

The Ministry of Justice announced Monday it will go forward with a plan to seize 12 bank accounts owned by Yingluck per a government order she repay the state 35 billion baht allegedly lost under her administration’s rice price-guarantee policy. The former leader is also being tried on a charge of malfeasance for overseeing the program.

Junta leader Prayuth Chan-ocha, who as prime minister has sought to undo the Shinawatra political legacy, has threatened Yingluck’s supporters with legal action if they gather in support of her when the court delivers its verdict on Aug. 25. Could be in for some interesting times or another back flip !

The interesting time will come after October. This just a show of support. In any case, the junta is sweating profusely as these interesting times draw near.

The PM is sh+t++g himself, terrified of what could happen.

Mr PM the peasants are ready to revolt, so what you gonna do???

Get your pals with the m16s to shoot a few thousand of them, just to keep the others in line.

Interesting times ahead.

Or, get the other side's blackshirt sniper 'pals' or bomb makers/RPG throwers  to take out some in the crowd  to try to kick things off (again...)

Note in the 'other' paper Red Shirt leader Weng is making familiar threats again (paraphrasing)  that on Aug 1 and 25 the turnout will be bigger and the 'handling of people'  coming to the court on those days 'will be difficult'  and finally stating that  'If mistakes happen',  the Govt will cause damage to themselves'..... (sounds like a veiled threat or the outline of a plan to do something and blame the Govt/Army?)

One wonders what the Red Shirt leader is either party to, or has prior knowledge of? (seen this movie before, usually really kicks off following seizure of 'family' funds, or losing a court case that didn't get swayed by a pastry bag full of cash  delivered via Thaksin's lawyer ). One also wonders if Thaksin will once again take to the the airwaves to plead for supporters to 'Come to protest and bring YOUR kids'  (while his kids all jetted off on sudden overseas shopping junkets in 1st class... and Chalerm to Singapore)  just before all heck broke out after confiscation of Shinawtra 'family' assets last time.

She was supposed to run.

She didn't.

What an annoyance that must be .

No, she was never supposed or allowed to run. Her brother wants martyrs again. And he's never been fussed how he gets them.

It said hundreds (no more than a thousand) turned up to support her. Are you suggesting that this time someone will be mobilizing rent-a-mob and busing them about to try and pressure a favorable decision?

Guess pastry boxes aren't being considered this time.

Wonder if he'll promise to be here, shoulder to shoulder, when the first shots are fired - and then piss off to Paris for nice expensive holiday and shopping again, like last time.

Canon fodder - sometimes that fodder wakes up!

Biased and simple-minded factionalism. Where is the proven, reasonable justification to tell others to be quiet and continue speaking oneself?

You contradict yourself.

First you say the powers would not allow her to run.

Then it's taksin fault as he doesn't want her to run because he needs a martyr.

Make up your mind noddy. ??

been like that for decades pattani in the south separatists groups  , as long as i can remember etc . its all ok in the land of smiles .

nothing new , north and south US American civil war  !

american governments , Do things no differently they fixed their own divisions via civil war ,

then spent last 60 years invading and dividing, meddling , in every other country business look what that got us into undeclared war for almost 16 years  now ,

Vietnamese won the war " and unified their country no one else's seems to be working fine .

unfortunately division part of most foreign countries strategy all for  oil , minerals ,  gold , etc no other reason for a war resources only ..

let the thais do what they like their country nothing new ..

if " thai military don't like something stage a coup " this approx number 49 since end of ww11 (2)

I don't know but I think Ying luck in her heart she thought she was doing the right thing with the rice. It backfired on her. Sometimes I wonder if the government is going after her because of her brother and being made a scapegoat. Just a thought.

Hope so.

Would finally sort BKK out.

But if this country was going to split, it would be more along Yugoslavia's lines, ie into 3,4 or 5 different countries.
