Just lately I am having problems streaming from several Movie/Series sites,

I am supposed to have 50/30 (i think) with TOT,speed test show i am getting

that within Thailand,I dont expect to get that once it goes outside Thailand,

to London it's about  5GB down, 20GB up .

BBC iPlayer with VPN, buffers a little, the movie sites it's about 20-50 KBs,!

which means you cannot view anything,Youtube movies no problem.the later no VPN.

Anyone else seen problems with streaming ,much slower speeds, just

wonder if TOT are throttling speeds,or if they have gotten the Great

firewall of Thailand up and running.

regards worgordie

A number of members (myself included) have reported extremely variable international bandwidth with TOT.

Full speed into Bangkok (of course) but well down into Singapore.

been watching  Netflix for last 2 hours , perfect. Netflix thailand

I speedtest  Perth using internode isp ping 86 dl 57 up 10  50/20 tot fibre

speedtest  Perth using Telstra isp ping 255 up 26 dl 4

speedtest Perth using optus isp    ping 335 up 14 dl 2

checked internode again  ping 79

seems problems could be with isp in Australia and probably other places too?

Mobdro was once one of my favourite streaming sites, especially for watching rugby live.  However in the last 2-3 weeks its really become quite unbearable to watch.

Yesterday I received notification of an update but that did very little to fix all the buffering etc.  Initially I would get about 30 seconds to 2 minutes of great streaming but then the stop start motion would kick in. Not great when trying to watch live sports.

I am aware that this app has become very popular and guessed that perhaps that is causing a drain on the bandwidth from the provider (If thats possible).  I also checked my modem and package, its with 3BB fibre and all is fine there.(41Mbps download and 90 Mbps upload)...but I will likely get the technicians to check.   I have noticed that at times the readings are very weak but on a retest they just up to their normal fibre standard.... maybe just a loose wire!

Ive since found another streaming supplier (Of free live sport too I might add) and it appears to be working like Mobdro of old.  Im just a bit worried that if it becomes popular it may go the same way and have endless buffering.  But in the meantime its going fine.

I guess that "special" LAN cable, which you were made to believe it was superior to every other LAN cable,  didn't fix it then.

Any way, since we share info here, you might want to share the new apk you found here.I don't think that even if all active TVF members would log in to that apk, it would affect the streaming even a little bit

Actually the change of cable did help as the 'old' one was corroded at the 'plugs' which cause the connection to be intermittent a lot of the time.

Check out Solid Streamz they have their own website and its not on Google play.  At the top of their app (Once youve downloaded it) there is a sliding menu bar.  It streams a lot of countries and live sports.  Its even got Australian channels although you may need subtitles to work out their language! ?

Yes, WorG - streams are not streaming very well and movies and not moving much. I noticed the slowing down around the beginning of July - no real problems for the last 8-9 months before that. Asked for a TOT techie to come out and look. He came a couple of days later and did some measuring. I was told and shown that CNN on youtube wasn't buffering - how nice. I don't watch CNN. He reckoned he'd check out the system and get back to us. Since then we haven't seen or heard anything from the techie, maybe he'll suddenly pop up again, maybe not. :saai:

I've since then done speedtests to London, USA, Singapore and other places, just as an interest to see what's what. Most US and European speedtests have really lousy results - sometimes just 1 or 2 Mbs DL. We have 50/20 Mbs fiber optic, too. Singapore & HK have much better results, but I somehow doubt many of the streams that I use originate from those places.

I will certainly add that domestic speedtests are mostly excellent, around the 50/20 that we've signed up for.

I suppose (guessing, really) that TOT just don't have the capacity to provide decent access to/from some countries, with streaming possibilities for any real length of time. On some days we get good streaming access with limited buffering - on other days it's totally impossible to watch anything at all. Friday evening, when the BIG MAN talks, streaming anything whatsoever is a no-no. About 5 minutes after he's stopped talking the streams are pretty much buffer free - at least that what the wife reckons.

Our contract with TOT finishes in couple of months - if things don't improve, then we'll definitely be looking around for a different provider.  Erm.....any recommendations, anybody?

Of course it didn't buffer, since Youtube streams from Thailand based servers.

You should tell the TOT technician that there is actually life outside Thailand, not sure they gonna believe it, but trying to explain that it's called World Wide Web instead of Thailand Wide Web might help.

I have been fighting with 3 BB about streaming for the last 4 weeks Terrible Complain enough and they give you more speed All I can say is just keep making them come to your connection and after a week of this they will give you more speed but no stay so

I have been giving 3 bb a hard time and just today streaming seems to improve So I assume then added me to a better server

Not about streaming but want to complain that TOT wifi has been down for 8 days now. Extremely inconvenient. Finally decided to cancel.

It seems that nobody really knows what is causing all these bugs with the streaming.....

It also appears the only way around it all is to subscribe to someone...anotherways pays someone some dosh.  Seems par for the course in Thailand.

The free lunches are over....

The issue is the Thai Gov. They regulate the amount of international bandwidth each carrier receives.  Today we have more demand and not enough allocation. No getting around it until Thailand loosens it's grip on bandwidth...

I have been having a few problems streaming in the last few weeks. It was particularly bad the weekend July 21s-23rd. It looked like the international speed was well down. I usually have to mess about switching in VPN, swapping VPN server targets, trying different sources. Sometimes miss half a program dicking around to get it streaming well. When the speed is good, I suggest you download and store on your laptop.... it will probably get worse when the football season starts!

Plenty of good live streaming free content available, as long as you stay away from the most popular addons and apk's.

From free addons or apk's you can only receive as much as they have upload bandwidth, and since there is no limit as to how many can connect to the server, at popular times it get easily overloaded.

There are new addons released almost every week, and they will work well because not too many are aware yet, but it takes some effort to keep informed and is time consuming. Of course after a few months everyone knows about them and you have to move to the next one.

For recorded content like movies or sports replays, it is always possible to have good streams for free.

Streaming is still not illegal for the end consumer, downloading is illegal, and how do you download live streams?

Cheers for the info.....its what I thought may be happening. So its really just a case of keep looking for new sources in order to stay ahead of the game (Or stay ahead of all those wanting to stream off the same source)

I'll continue to do so until it begins to take up to much time.  As you said, movies aint really a problem at the moment. Watched an excellent stream of King Arthur last night.  Some of the latest movies havent yet reached the HD or 1080 level but Im in no hurry and cant be bothered watching something with Cam quality (Or lack of quality altogether.

Just FYI I watched UFC 214 on Mobdro in the UK a few days ago and it was fine ....

Streaming and downloading are essentially the same thing.
The only difference is that streaming keeps a small (er) portion of the whole content in a "buffer" (hard drive or RAM) then discards it after display and then continues to download the next segment into the buffer.

Various applications allow you to record live streams VLC maybe the best known.
