Article says it had been parked there for half an hour prior...DUH!!!

30 minutes should be enough time to find out who and where, but by half an hour they should know at least that plus when and what and be gone?

Call me crazy, but IMHO, immobilizing a marked police vehicle is wrong. ( even if a small amount of joy can be found in a wee bit of payback)

A more appropriate response would be to photograph the vehicle ( number and number plate) and have the head of the security department (or his assistant), contact the offenders superiors, and demand an explanation.

or... make a public address announcement, summoning a cop from within the airport facility, and demand an explaination

or... well... y'all get the picture.

next up... fast forward to the article about the ambulance being wheel clamped ?

Udon Thani International airport shares facilities at the Royal Thai Airforce base, the home of Wing 23, 2nd Air Division Air Combat Command. The RTAF provide terminal security and are responsible for keeping the passenger drop-off and pick-up lanes clear. With around 50 flights coming and going between 7 AM and 10 PM each day, around 1.3 million passengers passed through the airport between January and June 2017, almost the same amount for the whole of 2016.

If a local cop parks a police pickup where nobody else is allowed to park except emergency vehicles in an emergency and goes and has a coffee, then he gets clamped.

End of.

PS. He will also get clamped if he hangs about chatting up the RTAF guard's girlfriend.

Not in australia I have parked a police vehicle in all number of positions when responding to an incident and I was perfectly right to do so.  I dont drive around looking for a parking spot 100 metres away whilst someone is in urgent need of police assistance just so some lefty nutjob doesnt complain.  If the police were getting lunch that is different and that is why I asked why were they there.

Which part of ' abused their position ' did you not understand ?

Sadly, this might be good reading and social media, but I wish the so call guard good luck buddy? Unless he is actually up in the chain and know someone he will be demoted.

We and I do it because majority of the time they deserve it, not taking sides, but to be honest 30 minutes isn't a lot of time if the officer of the vehicle is on official business?  Putting the boot on the vehicle is a extreme in this situation unless the officer knows the officer to have done this in the past and thinks he is above the law. If this is the case I agree boot the sucker and make a statement. But like always the news story doesn't give us reader all the facts so we assume?

To be honest if the officer is officially on busy then he or she should have left the emergency lights flashing as a indicator but here in Thailand the boys and girls in brown can't say for sure?

That's bull! In the UK emergency vehicles and/or drivers are frequently penalized if proven that they abused their position.

Is udon in the UK?

At Swampy airport it's a complete laugh to see the cops chasing away the illegal taxi's waiting for passengers.

The police uses a very loud horn to chase them off but behind that policetruck there's a huge row of taxi's waiting to stop as soon the truck has left...

That truck will come back within 10 minutes before the whole show starts over again. Taxi's have no fear at all for the airportpolice.

They all drive around in circles and this is going on for years now...

Most of These Taxi's are not illegal. they just drop off passengers. Many people me included take a taxi at the departure drop off, to avoid the Airport Taxi Mafia at the arrivals !!!

Why was the police vehicle parked there, where they responding to a job? If I was attending to a job and came out and found the vehicle clamped that guard would be charged.  What if the police were called to an emergency situation and some numbnut had clamped the vehicle.  You don't touch emergency vehicles as lives depend on them.

Are you seriously referring to Thai police vehicles as "emergency vehicles"???

When was the last time you saw any Thai police vehicle actually responding Code 3 to any real emergency?

Wouldn't think the local pickup the lunches police ute would ever rate as an emergency vehicle. There was one parked around the corner from my humour for over a week not so long back- didn't move in all that time.

Good story. Well done the guard.

Police do this all over the world. Not long ago I saw  a police car parked on a roundabout in the UK and a local bus stopped behind that could not get passed blocking three of the four roadways in the town center. I was on foot going to the supermarket about 25 yards from the roundabout, and guess what,  when I got inside the police were shopping...

There is much good in the country, just that no one seems to be able or willing to turn the 'bad' into good.
