Hello all, am looking for some advice.

I recently left a school in chonburi on good terms for a new school in Bangkok.

My old school cancelled my work permit, gave me the forms to show this along with tax forms, and told me to cancel my non b I just need to do a border hop to Cambodia, which I did on Sunday.

However, immigration at Cambodia, my new school, and an immigration officer in Bangkok that my girlfriend knows & asked, all say I need to go to Chonburi immigration with my old schools visa lady, with my passport, to fully cancel my non b. It hasn't been crossed out in my passport, but I do have a new 30 day stamp.

The visa lady in my old school is adamant it has already been cancelled so won't come to immigration, the visa lady in my new school does not want to call the one in my old school (who doesn't speak English) because it should be me who sorts it out apparently. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with many different reports. And chonburi immigration aren't picking up the phone to my girlfriend who is trying to clarify.

Does anyone know how to cancel my non b in chonburi, if I can do it alone and if so what documents I need?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Did you have a 90 day visa entry or an extension of stay from immigration?  It appears you did not cancel an extension of stay when the reason for it ended.

The OP stated he had a new 30 day stamp after crossing the border. (Visa exempt)

If he was on an extension, wouldn't crossing without a re-entry permit automatically cancel his extension?

He could not use the extension to enter - but an extension should be canceled at immigration prior to leaving if intending to obtain a new work permit these days as it can cause issues.  Some exit points have required such travelers to return to their immigration office to do so prior to allowing them to depart.

I had a non b originally, it was then extended for 90 days.

And yes, second reply, that's what my old school is saying. However at Ban Laem they said I'd still need to go to Chonburi - in my passport supposedly in on 30 days but in the system I'm still on a non b tied to my old school. Going there isn't really the problem, it's just working out what I need and who I need to go with, without being able to get an answer from the people who have it!

Thanks for the info lopburi3 - do you know if this is as simple as turning up with my passport and school termination letter?

I makes the extension invalid but not canceled.

There have been a few immigration offices insisting the extension be officially be canceled before they would issue a new one.

Will let those in the know provide better answers but indeed believe that letter is key - but this needs to be done within 24 hours so not sure how done later.

Maybe it will be overstay or something, not the end of the world. I'll just go to Chonburi tomorrow and see what happens I guess. Thanks for all the help guys.

Yes

As long as the termination date is on after the date you left the country it will not be a problem.

Chaengwattana did exactly that to me. Asked for letters from director's of old and new school before they would approve new ext.

Extension of stay (from immigration inside Thailand).  Extensions of stay end when their reason for issue ends.

No

Only an extension of stay issued by immigration needs to be canceled.

So went to Chonburi immigration today, due to leaving the country before my visa had been cancelled (and therefore now being on a 30 day exemption), they refused to cancel it until I re-register my Bangkok address at chaeng wattana through my landlord.

Hopefully this will be the last hoop I have to jump through.
