Good point. I remember once getting a 500 buck advance on my VISA card at Barclays Bank in Freetown, Sierra Leone. I needed two large bin bags to carry the three and a bit million leone's to the car.

Back in 2009 you couldn't even get a loaf of bread with a hundred-trillion-dollar bill. :sleepy:

You guys talk like Interpol always finds a person?   I bet he and his close friends have   had plastic surgery and a stash of cash provided for him.  Some private island someplace.

I grant you the Tinfoil Helmet of the month award!

They seek him here, they seek him there ... from their claim of trying every country on earth, Thailand's finest obviously think it a distinct possibility that he's gone to ground in somewhere like Papua New Guinea. I'll admit he's a gormless looking chinless wonder, but from all previous reports and pictures, he seems to have been determined to keep his mug in the press, so the likes of PNG isn't likely to attract him, no matter how desperate.

So I suppose the BiB will have to try harder, and just swallow their sensitivity to loss of face when asked by other agencies why it's taken them five years to get to where they are now.

Now I am guessing that 99.999% of posters here faced with the same situation  would make every effort to avoid facing a court if they had Red Bull resources at their disposal. It's life, it's human nature and money talks. Get the F over it and order another Chang.

Fortunately the opposite side of human nature is to try and devise a system which is better for the common good. Policing, trial by one's peers, investigative journalism... It isn't perfect but a damn sight better than an anarchistic free for all.

My point is that you came here to claim that they never have been talking about the reckless driving resulting in death charge.

Now you change your claims as that you know the future and they don't want to arrest him, and will never do.

That sounds as defamation to me.

No, that's called being realistic.

Here's a thought.

Offer up a 1 Bitcoin reward, to be paid anonymously and one of his "friends" on Facebook, Line, Wechat, Whatsapp, or Pokemon will rat him out.

His friends would laugh at a 1 bitcoin reward, that is only around 125,000 baht.

I read somewhere earlier that the family had been paid 3 million baht, bartered down from a 10 million claim. Could be B'S.

Easy enough to fact check

"The Yoovidhya family paid the officer’s siblings 3-million baht ($97,000) last week, police Lt. Col. Viradon Thubthimdee said. He said the settlement will protect Vorayuth from a civil lawsuit.   “We sometimes call this a ’funeral fee.’ If the victim’s party is satisfied with the amount of money, then they will not seek compensation through a court,” Viradon said.

The payment, however, does not protect Vorayuth from criminal charges of causing death by reckless driving and fleeing to avoid arrest. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in jail and a fine of 20,000 baht ($666).

The payment from the extremely wealthy family is also unlikely to quell public outrage over the incident and an initial attempt to cover up Vorayuth’s alleged involvement by arresting a bogus suspect."

I read somewhere else, I think the Bangkok Post, that the statute of limitations runs out in 24 days, OMG what a cleverly planned plan by the powers above to let this guy exit the country, i.e. no confiscation of passport, all part of the plan, no doubt he will come back when they can;t touch him.

The Government cancelled his passport in May.

I've got residency in more than one country and know how to get passports from at least two other countries, just need US$300,000.

I suspect if Prayut used article 44 to freeze the families assets, we would find out where he is soon enough.

Not going to happen though.

I would guess as much money as they have they undoubtedly have a good percentage of their assets out of Thailand. It may hurt, but not enough to give up the kid....

There are numerous posts on Fateboo saying he was spotted in Bangkok just two weeks ago.

Saw a guy who looks like him at Starbucks at the Thapea Gate in Chiang Mai yesterday. Laughed to myself how unbelievable that would be if the entire time he was in Thailand.

I'm going to call Chakthip Chaijinda out as a bald-faced liar (but what else would you expect from a man who followed on from Somyot?). This farce went beyond disgusting a long time ago, and, coupled with the RTP free card given to the Koh Tao serial killer, puts Thailand in the fruit loop bracket of justice systems.

What a clever NOT idea, part of the plan I would imagine.

I can't believe how stupid this guy is.

With his money and connections, if he'd dealt with the situation at the time, he would have ended up paying the cop's family what for him would be small change in compensation, and maybe been given community service, which he probably wouldn't have done anyway. Now he's in deep sh*t, and even his money isn't going to save him.
He paid family and they dropped case but still there is a police case

Yes. There is civil & criminal law. The family have taken care of the civil side which does not negate the criminal charges although it seems in many cases it does.

"“We are trying to locate him We have already asked about 190 countries, including Britain, whether Vorayuth is in their territory,” Chaktip said.""

Have you tried looking in Thailand? He is likely "hiding" in plain sight.

Wasn't he here in April when his lawyer claimed he couldn't make his court appearance because of urgent business outside of Thailand? Then they "discovered" he was actually here the whole time and jetted the day before court date?

Your jesting right ? The statute of limitations on prosecuting him run out in Sept so if he is not found by then he's home free.

I realise that that is the plan - to stay out of reach until the statute of limitations runs out; however, the case has stirred up such a media storm (not just in Thailand, but globally), that I honestly don't think the government will be able to let it go that easily, much as they might like to brush it under the carpet. They'll be under all sorts of international pressure to bring the guy to justice, one way or another. Had the case not become so high-profile, chances are he'd get away with it. As things stand, I'm not so sure.

Well if this guy can get an alias PP we are in deep shit....

Who is "we"? All the foreigners that can't accept a different society and culture than their own?

Frankly, this guy has no chance of going to jail, and anyone who thinks differently is very naive.

When it comes to the Royal Thai Police Force here's what comes to my mind. The Keystone Cops, The Three Stooges, the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight or Dumb and Dumber. Take your pick, they all apply to that bunch of clowns.

Yes, his last known location was Singapore wasn't it? He disappeared from that country sans jet and that's last sighting there has been of him.

There's a pretty rational reason for dumping his jet there. Man slipping out of a country, under a pseudonym or sneaking out on a boat. for instance would be hard to trace.

Man leaving anywhere on a private jet leaves a very clear trail to follow. Clearly a conspicuous private jet would be one hell of a liability if one really wants to disappear.

I was answering the question as to why the authorities did not seize his jet when he "abandoned" it.

(1) It was in another country and out of Thai jurisdiction and -....

(2) What would be the point in seizing an airplane.  They want him.  (Assuming they really do "WANT" him.

(3) He presumably abandoned the pilot & crew as well who just went on to the next place he told then to be.

(4)  He is too well connected and rich although this would not need to be called upon in this instance.
