bitcoin price in Thailand

Featured Replies

I noticed that 1 bitcoin is about 3-5% more expensive when purchased through a Thai exchange. Is there a reason? Onshore and offshore Baht exchange rate or just the demand/supply balance?

For example:

Google: 1 BTC = 135,771 THB

bx.in.th:   about 140,000 THB

Does anybody know?

They're is a lack of liquidity in the market compared to other nations, supply is pretty tight and especially when the price is rising thais refuse  to sell it unless at a premium...

All of the above.

When reviewing the Bitcoin price, it is important to remember that there’s no standard or global Bitcoin price. Bitcoin isn't pegged in any way to the USD or to any other currency, country or any exchange.

It’s almost like asking: “Why does a bag of rice cost more in one supermarket, city or country compared to another?”. The short answer is “because of supply and demand”, but let’s dive in a little deeper for a more detailed look.

Very interesting article from Luno. Thanks for answering my question.

I bought OMG at 16 baht and Ripple at 6 two days ago, happy days!

Ripple is the winner IMHO. Don't piss off the banks, work with them, they are very powerful.

Dollar cost averaging is probably  the best way to buy in a volatile market

Buy a little bit every week and you should do OK
