Pattaya cleans up ‘toilet beach’

PATTAYA:--After three months of running complaints, Pattaya finally said it will deploy a security guard to patrol a blocked-off portion of Pattaya Beach that became a haven for homeless people and a base for petty thieves.

Komklit Polwichit, head of the Special Affairs Office, led a team of Environment Department workers to Pattaya Beach near the Dusit Thani curve to clean up what had become an open toilet.

Beach chair and umbrella vendors had complained early this month that since a sheet-metal fence was erected on the sand in May, homeless people, both Thai and foreign, have started living there and thieves who steal swimmers’ belongings use it as refuge.

They say the situation has deteriorated, with squatters defecating on the beach and giving the entire area an unpleasant aroma.

Thousands visit Pattaya beach every day.

Not a single toilet on its entire four kilometer length.

And they wonder why it smells like piss.

A world class resort?

Don't think so.

Blimey t'wixt the turds torpedo'd into the sea by the drainage problems , the Chinese having a pony on the sidewalks and now squatters leaving Richard's on the beach .. This sort of thing might put folk off from coming here ..

Going after a few people is much easier then tackling the big offenders and building a proper sized Water treatment plant. Just pumping raw sewage into the sea is good for fish I was told.

I never had a problem of "toilet" on Beach Road! Most of toilets are private and cost 5-10 baths...Where is the problem?

Believe it or not, but for the homeless/tramps the 5 or 10 Baht is the problem.

Not to mention that the better places will probably not let them in.

I think it is just talk...... A distraction....... The homeless pooping on the beach is like the 'tip of the iceberg' ....   Compare that to what those huge pipes are dumping into the bay and then tell me if you believe that the 'smokescreen' is really a 'forest fire'....... LOL........

Today, a Chinese tourist whipped out his weenie and urinated on the wall that surrounds the enormous picture of the late King. He did this in front of at least 10 people.

And he's not in hospital? How?

Risk life and limb crossing the road and go to one in the Mall. Choice of Malls.

Would seem better just to get the damned job on the beach finished, how many years now?

Job on the beach finished , North end - your looking at it.

South end, entrance to cities main tourist attraction - that sorry mess of construction trailers, pump,

and junk concrete dividers. How many years now ???

And Re post #13 above. That area at Pattaya Klang @ Beach

In back of large picture of King is an encampment now, with trash all over..
